Office Chair Always Hits the Wall
Admin October 14, 2026
The following measures can be taken to solve the problem of office chairs always hitting the wall:

Use Protective Materials
- Chair-Wall Buffering: Place soft tools such as foam pads or sponges between the chair and the wall to effectively reduce the impact force during collisions, preventing damage to the wall or the chair. If the chair's backrest frequently contacts the wall, stick silicone anti-collision stickers or felt stickers at the contact points. These are soft and elastic, buffering direct scraping. Additionally, cover the chair's surface with furniture scratch-resistant protective film to prevent scratches even if it collides with the wall.
- Wall Protection: Stick soft pads (such as those made of sponge, cotton, or soft plastic) on the wall or install elastic wall-protective materials to reduce damage to the wall from collisions. For example, install wall panels or wainscoting (recommended height of 1.2 meters) in the workstation area so that the chair's backrest contacts the wall panels instead of the latex-painted wall, reducing the risk of scratches.
Adjust Chair Status
- Angle and Height Optimization: Adjust the chair's angle to avoid prolonged contact with the wall; adjust the chair's height according to the user's height to ensure a comfortable sitting posture and reduce collisions caused by being too high or too low. For example, the height of gaming chairs or office chairs should allow the user's feet to rest flat on the ground with the knees and hips at a 90-degree angle, preventing contact with the wall due to leaning forward or backward.
- Maintain a Safe Distance: Ensure an appropriate space (such as 30-50 centimeters) between the chair and the wall according to the chair's size and usage habits, facilitating movement and preventing accidental collisions.
Change Wall Settings
- Material Upgrade: If the budget allows, choose elastic textured paint (with a bumpy surface that makes collisions less noticeable) or wood veneer (a hard surface that is less likely to leave marks) for the wall to reduce the visibility of collision marks.
- Corner Protection: Install rounded metal corner guards or PVC corner strips at the wall corners to protect the wall and prevent injury to the user if the chair collides with them.
Other Auxiliary Methods
- Decorative Concealment: Use decorations such as picture frames or green plants to conceal the gap between the chair and the wall, beautifying the space and avoiding direct contact.
- Temporary Buffering: Use paper tape to stick to the edges of the chair when necessary. Its stickiness and elasticity can buffer direct collisions with the wall.
- Anti-Collision Accessories: Equip the chair with anti-collision corner covers to cover sharp edges such as tabletops; if the chair has metal or hard protrusions, apply transparent nail polish or glass coating to form an isolation layer.
- Bottom Anti-Slip: Install rubber pads at the bottom of the chair to reduce sliding and lower the possibility of hitting the wall, while also protecting the floor.
