Office Chair Airbag Leakage

Admin October 16, 2026

Solutions can be adopted for office chair airbag leakage based on different causes. Common causes and handling methods are as follows:

Airbag rubber cracking, seam unthreading, or sealing ring hardening and losing elasticity

  • Self-check for leakage points: Use a three-step self-check method. First, visually inspect the airbag surface for obvious issues such as cracks or bulges. Then, apply soapy water to suspicious areas. If bubbles appear, that area is a leakage point. Finally, measure the pressure drop rate to determine the severity of the leakage.
  • Repair or replacement: For small cracks, use repair glue for temporary repair. If there is extensive damage, a new airbag must be replaced.

Air pump issues

  • Prepare tools and disassemble: Prepare an air pump and a screwdriver, and prioritize products from reputable manufacturers and request invoices. First, remove the seat cushion from the chair, taking care not to damage it. After removing the cushion, locate the plastic cap beneath it, separate the movable star-shaped frame first, and then pull out the plastic cap to complete the chair disassembly.
  • Detection and replacement: After disassembling the chair, you will see the air pressure rod and air needle. Use a screwdriver to push the air needle into the air pressure rod until you hear a popping sound, and continue to release all the gas in the air pressure rod. If the air pump is fine, reassemble the chair and test for leakage. If leakage persists, the air pump needs to be replaced. When replacing, open the air pressure rod. The air pump is installed between the stainless steel base and the steel plate beneath the chair, and can be unloaded on both sides. Install the new air pump by reversing the disassembly process and test it. Due to the safety risks associated with replacing the air pump, it is recommended to take the chair to a professional repair shop or contact a technician for on-site repair.

Air valve failure or airbag damage in the inflatable airbag

  • Locate leakage points: First, completely release all the gas from the folding chair, then inflate it with a small amount of gas (about one-third of full capacity). Apply soapy water to the air valve and seams, or immerse the airbag in water. Areas where bubbles appear are leakage points. If no obvious holes are found, it may be an air valve sealing issue.
  • Handle air valve leakage: If the air valve is loose, tighten the valve cover. If the sealing ring is worn, remove the old PVC sealing ring and replace it with a new one of the same size. If the air valve is broken, replace it with the corresponding model of air valve้…ไปถ (accessory).
  • Handle airbag holes: For small holes (less than 5mm in diameter), clean and dry the area around the hole, apply a PVC-specific patch, press it firmly, and let it sit for 30 minutes before inflating. For large holes or cracks exceeding 10mm, it is recommended to replace the inflatable airbag with the same model, as large holes are less secure after repair and prone to re-leakage.

Aging or damage to the air rod sealing components

  • Replace sealing components: Locate the sealing component at the bottom of the air rod, disassemble it with a wrench or screwdriver, clean it, and check for damage. If damaged, purchase a new sealing component for replacement. Ensure it is installed firmly and test the chair for leakage.
  • Replace the entire air rod: If the sealing component cannot be repaired or the leakage problem persists, the entire air rod needs to be replaced. Turn the chair upside down, locate the connecting screws between the air rod and the seat base, disassemble them with a wrench or screwdriver, remove the old air rod, purchase a compatible new air rod, install it in place, and finally test for leakage.
