Office Chair Air Pump Replacement
Replacing the air pump of an office chair requires careful operation. It is recommended to have it handled by a professional. If you choose to replace it yourself, you can refer to the following steps:

I. Removing the Old Air Pump
- Flip the Chair and Remove the Base: Turn the chair upside down so that the base faces upwards. Use a rubber mallet to evenly tap around the bottom steel ring and try to pry the base. If it does not loosen, continue tapping and prying until the base is completely removed. Be sure to apply even force to avoid damaging the base structure.
- Remove the Upper Seat and Metal Chassis: Use a screwdriver to loosen and remove the fixing screws of the upper seat. Then, use a hammer to tap the metal chassis (while holding the hydraulic rod with your hand for support, and using your foot if necessary to increase force) to separate the hydraulic rod from the chassis. If the connection is severely rusted, spray lubricant at the connection points between the chair seat chassis and the air pressure rod, and between the five-claw and the air pressure rod. Wait for at least half an hour for penetration, and then use a rubber mallet to evenly tap the four corners of the chassis and the outer periphery of the bottom of the air pressure rod to help separate them. Tap with a cloth in between to prevent the five-claw footrest from getting paint chipped or cracked.
- Take Out the Air Rod: After removing the seat cushion, move the star-shaped frame and remove the fixing nut. Pull the old air rod out of the structure. Be aware that there may be residual high-pressure gas inside the air rod, so avoid touching the port directly with your hands.
II. Installing the New Air Pump
Insert the new air pump into the original installation position, ensuring that the top of the air pump is aligned with the chair's steel plate and the bottom is aligned with the stainless steel base. Install the star-shaped frame, nut, and metal chassis in sequence. When fixing, check that the screws are tightened to avoid potential safety hazards caused by looseness.
III. Testing and Safety Precautions
After installation, test the chair's lifting function and airtightness. If air leakage is detected, it may be due to an incompatible air pump model or improper installation. Stop using it immediately and contact the manufacturer to replace the air pump. There are significant safety hazards for non-professionals to replace it themselves: When the air pump releases air, it may generate high-pressure airflow, and improper operation can easily cause skin burns or eye injuries. If the air rod is installed at an angle, the chair may suddenly collapse during use, posing a risk of falling. Therefore, it is recommended to send the chair to a professional repair shop or contact a technician for on-site service, especially when multiple chairs need to be replaced. On-site repair is more efficient and safe.
