Office Chair Air Pump Maintenance

Admin October 22, 2026

The maintenance of an office chair air pump can be carried out according to the following steps. For complex operations, it is recommended to contact professionals:

I. Disassembly of the Air Pump for Pressure Boosting in Gaming Chairs' Pneumatic Rods

  1. Base Disassembly
Turn the chair upside down so that the base faces upwards. Use a rubber mallet to evenly tap around the bottom steel ring in a circular motion. Repeat this operation until the base becomes loose and can be moved. If the base is tightly connected to the pneumatic rod, you can assist the disassembly by stepping on it or increasing the tapping force.
  2. Separation of the Upper Seat from the Hydraulic Piston Rod
After removing the base, use a screwdriver to unscrew the fixing screws of the upper seat. Then, use a hammer to gently tap the metal chassis while holding the hydraulic piston rod with your hand (step on it for assistance if necessary). Slowly pull it out from the pneumatic rod. Avoid violent operations during this process to prevent deformation of the parts.

II. Disassembly of the Main Body of the Gaming Chair's Air Pump

  1. Loosening the Special-shaped Screws
The air pump is usually located under the chair. Find the hexagonal special-shaped screws (with a raised or recessed design) and use the corresponding tool (such as an Allen wrench) to turn them counterclockwise and loosen them in preparation for the subsequent disassembly of the panel.
  2. Panel Disassembly
Use a screwdriver to unscrew the fixing screws around the panel. Pay attention to storing them separately to avoid loss. Gently pull the panel to separate it from the air pump. If there is significant resistance, check for hidden screws or snaps. Do not forcibly tear it to prevent the panel from breaking.
  3. Removing the Air Pump
After separating the panel, find the air hose connecting the air pump to the base. Pinch the hose connector and slowly pull it out (to avoid breakage). Then, take the entire air pump out of the chair frame. If the air pump is tightly fitted to the frame, observe whether there are fixing screws or snaps that need to be released first.

III. Fault Diagnosis and Handling

  • The pneumatic rod cannot be raised or lowered: There may be an internal gas leak, and the pneumatic rod or air pump components need to be replaced.
  • The pneumatic rod wobbles but can be raised or lowered: This is mostly due to damaged sealing (such as aging of the sealing ring). It is recommended to contact after-sales service directly, as self-repair may damage the structure of the pneumatic rod and cause safety hazards.

IV. Precautions

  • Avoid using metal tools to directly tap plastic parts during operation to prevent cracking.
  • Mark the positions before disassembling the air hoses to facilitate restoration after maintenance.
  • If you are not familiar with the structure or there are still abnormalities after maintenance, give priority to professional maintenance services to ensure safety and functionality.
