Adjustment of Office Chairs
The adjustment of office chairs should be carried out from multiple aspects such as seat height, sitting posture angle, armrest height, and headrest to enhance comfort and health protection.

1. Seat Height Adjustment
Adjusting the seat height is a fundamental and crucial step. It can be operated through hand controls: pull up the lever or turn the knob (for example, the C100 Premium Edition is adjusted via a metal handle). Alternatively, it can be adjusted from a standing position so that the front of the chair is below the knees, ensuring that both feet are flat on the ground and the thighs and calves form an angle of 95ยฐ-100ยฐ. If the chair is too high and causes the feet to hang in the air, a footrest should be used; if it is too low, increasing the pressure on the knee joints, the seat height should be raised.
2. Sitting Posture Angle Adjustment
Maintaining a slightly reclined sitting posture (100ยฐ-110ยฐ) can effectively reduce lumbar spine pressure, allowing the back, especially the lower back, to fit against the chair back. If the chair is equipped with a lumbar support, it should be adjusted to support the natural curve of the lumbar spine, avoiding a hollow lower back. Additionally, changing sitting postures every 15-30 minutes is recommended to prevent localized muscle fatigue.
3. Armrest Height Adjustment
The height of the armrests should match the position of the elbows when they hang naturally, ensuring that the forearms can rest easily on the armrests or desktop, with the upper arms and forearms forming an angle close to 100ยฐ. If the armrests are too high, it can cause shoulder tension; if they are too low, they will fail to support the arms, increasing neck pressure. If arm support is not needed or the armrests interfere with the knees sliding under the desk, the armrests can be lowered or removed (as in some detachable designs).
4. Headrest Adjustment (if applicable)
The headrests of some office chairs (such as the Qingxian Dynamic Ergonomic Chair) can be adjusted in height and front-back position. When adjusting, ensure that the headrest supports the back of the head, maintaining the natural curve of the cervical spine and avoiding neck fatigue caused by the head leaning forward or backward.
5. Other Detail Adjustments
- Seat Depth: Adjust the seat depth through the control device (such as the metal handle of the C100 Premium Edition) to ensure a 2-3 finger gap between the back of the knees and the front edge of the seat, avoiding pressure on blood vessels and nerves.
- Footrest Use: If the chair is too high and cannot be adjusted, a footrest can be prepared to support the feet and maintain the correct sitting posture.
By systematically adjusting the various parameters of an office chair, sitting comfort can be significantly improved, reducing the risk of fatigue in the lower back, neck, and lower limbs, in line with ergonomic principles.
