How to Adjust an Office Chair
Adjusting an office chair requires a comprehensive approach based on ergonomic principles, covering aspects such as seat height, headrest, sitting posture angle, armrest height, and monitor height to maintain a comfortable and healthy sitting position.

Seat Height Adjustment
Seat height is the core of adjustment. Use the hand control device (such as a lever or knob) to adjust the height; some pneumatic chairs require repeated pushing of the lever up and down. Ensure both feet are flat on the ground during adjustment, with the thighs and lower legs forming a 95ยฐ-100ยฐ angle to avoid excessive pressure on the knee joints. If the chair is too high and causes the feet to hang in the air, use a footrest; if it is too low, raise the seat or replace it with a more suitable chair. Alternatively, adjust from a standing position so that the front of the chair is below the knees, ensuring that the eyes are level with the monitor when working on the computer and the elbows are level with the desktop when working at the desk.Headrest Adjustment
The height and angle of the headrest should be adjusted according to the neck support needs. Taking the Qingxian Dynamic Ergonomic Chair as an example, the headrest height can be adjusted by lifting, and the front-back position can also be adjusted in a specific way to ensure that the cervical spine is fully supported when the head is tilted back, avoiding neck suspension or excessive forward extension.Sitting Posture Angle Optimization
Maintaining a slightly reclined sitting posture (100ยฐ-110ยฐ) can effectively reduce lumbar pressure. The key is to have the back, especially the waist, fit against the backrest and use the lumbar support to support the natural curve of the lumbar spine. If the chair does not have a lumbar support, similar effects can be achieved by adjusting the backrest tilt or adding a cushion.Armrest Height Matching
The armrest height should be adjusted so that when the elbows are naturally hanging down, the forearms can easily rest on the armrests or desktop, with the upper arms and forearms forming an angle close to 100ยฐ. If arm support is not needed (such as when moving frequently or being close to the desktop), the armrests can be lowered or removed to avoid obstructing the knees from sliding under the desk.Monitor Height Adaptation
Raise the monitor so that the eyes are level with the top edge of the screen, forcing the spine to stretch naturally and avoiding increased neck pressure from leaning forward (neck pressure can increase by 3-5 times when leaning forward). If using a laptop, it is recommended to use a stand or an external monitor.
Additional Advice: Even when adjusted to a perfect posture, it is necessary to engage in simple activities (such as hip joint stretching and lower back relaxation) every 30 minutes to relieve fatigue from prolonged sitting and prevent muscle stiffness and lumbar problems.
