Office Chair Adjustable Chair

Admin October 12, 2026

An adjustable chair among office chairs is a functional seat that adjusts the height of the seat plate through a lifting and positioning device. Common types include pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical ones.

Pneumatic adjustable chairs: These are a relatively common type in the current market. They use high-pressure nitrogen gas cylinders to achieve smooth lifting and lowering of the seat plate. This design makes the adjustment process of the chair very smooth, allowing users to easily adjust the chair to a suitable height according to their needs. However, pneumatic adjustable chairs also have certain safety hazards. If low-quality pneumatic rods are used, such as those with insufficient nitrogen purity or thin tube walls, there is a risk of explosion during use, which can cause serious harm to the user. To reduce this risk, consumers should choose products with specific safety certifications when purchasing and check whether the products are equipped with safety features such as explosion-proof steel plates. In addition, during use, improper operations such as frequent lifting and lowering of the chair and disassembling the pneumatic rod by oneself should be avoided to prevent safety accidents.

Hydraulic adjustable chairs: These control the lifting and lowering of the seat plate through a hydraulic system. The hydraulic system usually consists of components such as hydraulic oil, hydraulic cylinders, and pistons. The flow of hydraulic oil drives the movement of the piston, thereby achieving the lifting and lowering of the seat plate. The advantage of hydraulic adjustable chairs is that the lifting and lowering process is relatively stable, and they can bear a relatively large weight. However, the hydraulic system is relatively complex, with high maintenance and repair costs. Moreover, if hydraulic oil leaks, it may cause certain pollution to the environment.

Mechanical adjustable chairs: These mainly rely on mechanical structures to achieve the lifting and lowering of the seat plate, for example, through the cooperation of components such as gears and screws. The structure of mechanical adjustable chairs is relatively simple, with low costs, and they are also relatively convenient for maintenance and repair. However, their lifting and lowering process may not be as smooth as that of pneumatic and hydraulic ones, and the adjustment accuracy is also relatively low.

For example, the Jingdong Jingzao Z5 Pro ergonomic chair is equipped with a 50mm adjustable backrest, which can accurately find the comfortable support area; the Hebiaodiao P2 Ultra office chair has a 30mm independent lifting function, which can match the body shapes of most people and accurately adjust to the height that supports the waist or sacrum.
