Adjustability of Office Chairs

Admin October 11, 2026

Office chairs typically offer multiple adjustment options, including recline, height, armrests, lumbar support, neck pillow, and seat depth, as detailed below:

Recline Adjustment

  • Lever Adjustment System: Commonly used in mid-range and high-end office chairs. Locate the adjustment lever beneath the seat, near the right or left side. Release the recline lock (if applicable), shift your body weight backward, and adjust the lever to achieve a comfortable backrest angle. If there is a locking function, operate the lever again to lock the position.
  • Knob Adjustment System: Often found in ergonomic chairs. The knob is usually located near the center of the seat's underside, close to the support column. Turning it clockwise typically increases the backrest's recline resistance, while turning it counterclockwise decreases it. Some chairs have a separate knob for adjusting the recline angle; refer to the product manual for specific instructions.
  • Pneumatic Adjustment System: Used in some modern office chairs. The pneumatic lever is arranged alongside the height adjustment lever. Push it in different directions to adjust the recline, providing a smooth adjustment experience. Gently pull the lever to adjust the backrest to a comfortable angle.

Height Adjustment

  • Locate the Hand Control: While seated, pull up the corresponding control lever to adjust the height; some models use a rotating knob. If unsure, read the manual or try pulling up the lever. Adjust in increments of a few inches (or centimeters) at a time, and return the lever to its original position when finished. On some models, pulling the lever upward raises the seat, while pressing it downward lowers it. Pneumatic models allow you to pump the lever to raise or lower the seat. If you cannot adjust it to the desired position, try adjusting from a standing position so that the front of the chair is just below your knees.
  • Choose the Appropriate Height for the Task: When working on a computer, keep your eyes level with the monitor; if you cannot adjust the monitor height, adjust the seat height instead. For desk work, keep your elbows at desk height. When sitting for long periods, rest your feet on the floor and adjust the chair height so that your feet are flat.

Other Adjustments

  • Armrest Adjustment: For example, the Hebaidiao P2Ultra office chair offers a rich array of armrest configurations, including 360-degree rotation of the main shaft, 32-degree rotation of the secondary shaft, approximately 20mm of lateral movement, 60mm of overall armrest height adjustment, and linked armrest folding.
  • Lumbar Support Adjustment: The Hebaidiao P2Ultra office chair features a 40mm up-and-down adaptive sliding range. When leaning back and applying pressure, the lumbar support moves down along with your waist. It also offers 30mm of independent height adjustment, allowing precise positioning to support your lower back or sacrum. Additionally, it has a 6.5-degree, five-position adjustable forward-chasing lumbar function, with approximately 5 degrees of lateral offset, ensuring a snug fit even when leaning to the side.
  • Neck Pillow Adjustment: The Hebaidiao P2Ultra office chair boasts a unique 4D adjustment design, offering 140mm of height adjustment and 24mm of forward-and-backward adjustment.
  • Seat Depth Adjustment: Compared to the Pro model, the Hebaidiao P2Ultra has been upgraded with a 6cm seat depth adjustment. The seat cushion is enlarged and widened overall, accommodating a wider range of body types and allowing for cross-legged sitting.
