Office Chair Accessories Structure

Admin October 13, 2026

The structure of office chair accessories mainly includes core components such as casters, chair bases, gas cylinders, seat plates, seats, armrests, backrests, lumbar pillows, and headrests. Some high-end models are also equipped with dynamic support technology accessories.

Casters are the foundation for the mobility of office chairs. They are usually made of high-strength plastic or metal, paired with silent rubber wheels to ensure smooth sliding and reduced noise on various floors (such as carpets and tiles). Chair bases are mostly designed in a five-star shape, with materials including nylon, aluminum alloy, or steel, providing a stable support structure. Some high-end models use thickened metal materials to enhance load-bearing capacity.

The gas cylinder (pneumatic rod) is a core component for adjusting the seat height and rotation function. It is filled with high-pressure nitrogen gas internally and achieves stepless lifting through piston movement. High-quality gas cylinders need to pass international safety certifications (such as the BIFMA standard) to avoid the risk of explosion due to abnormal pressure. The seat plate connects the gas cylinder to the seat and is usually equipped with a tilt-locking mechanism that can adjust the backrest tilt angle (such as within the range of 90ยฐ-135ยฐ). Some models also support seat depth adjustment to accommodate users with different leg lengths.

The seat consists of three layers: a wooden board, sponge, and fabric. The wooden board provides structural support, the high-density sponge ensures a comfortable sitting feel and is not prone to collapse, and the fabric is divided into mesh, leather, or fabric options. Among them, mesh fabric offers the best breathability, while leather appears more high-end but requires regular maintenance. Armrests are divided into fixed and adjustable types. The latter supports height, angle, and even forward-backward sliding adjustments to match different office scenarios (such as typing or resting postures).

The backrest is a key component for supporting the spine and usually adopts an ergonomic curve design. Some models are equipped with a dynamic back-following function, meaning the backrest can automatically adjust the support angle as the user's sitting posture changes. Lumbar pillows are divided into fixed and adjustable types. High-end models use dual dynamic lumbar support or a domino three-dimensional lumbar support system, providing precise lumbar support through elastic materials or mechanical structures to relieve fatigue from prolonged sitting. The headrest is used to support the neck and supports height and angle adjustments. Some models use flexible materials to fit the curve of the head.

High-end office chairs also integrate dynamic support technology accessories. For example, the flexible back-following design achieves synchronous movement between the backrest and the user's back through an elastic frame, while the domino three-dimensional lumbar support system provides multi-dimensional lumbar support through multiple sets of linked springs, further enhancing comfort and health protection effects.
