Office Chair Accessories Maintenance

Admin October 19, 2026

Office chair accessories maintenance should be carried out in a targeted manner according to the characteristics of different components. The specific methods are as follows:

  1. Caster Maintenance

    • Cleaning and Anti-Sticking: Regularly clean the fluff and fibers on the surface of the casters to prevent foreign objects from getting stuck and causing smooth sliding issues. Choose appropriate casters according to the floor material: nylon hard casters are suitable for soft floors such as carpets, and PU soft casters are suitable for hard floors (such as wooden floors and tiles).
    • Anti-Static Treatment: After cleaning, spray a small amount of anti-static agent to reduce dust adhesion and ensure smooth sliding, thereby extending the service life.
  2. Metal Chair Frame Maintenance

    • Daily Cleaning: Use a dry cloth to regularly wipe the dust off the surface of the steel chair frame to maintain its luster. For stubborn stains, spray a small amount of Pledge (furniture care spray wax) and then wipe with a flannel cloth, which can both clean and form a protective film.
    • Rust Prevention: Avoid using corrosive cleaners to prevent metal oxidation and discoloration. If there are slight rust stains, dip a cotton cloth in white vinegar and wipe the rust stains, let it sit for 5 minutes, and then wipe it clean with a dry cloth.
    • Environmental Management: Avoid direct sunlight to prevent metal oxidation or plastic aging.
  3. Adjustment System Lubrication

    • Gas Lift (Height Adjustment System): If the height adjustment is stuck, drop 1-2 drops of lubricating oil (such as silicone oil) at the connection between the gas lift and the base, and repeatedly adjust the height several times to evenly distribute the lubricating oil.
    • Tilt/Recline System: Check the tilt knob on the base. If the adjustment resistance is too high, open the base cover and apply a small amount of grease to metal components such as gears and springs.
    • Armrest Adjustment: If the armrest height or forward/backward adjustment is stiff, disassemble the armrest cover and spray a small amount of lubricant on the adjustment rod and slot.
  4. Connection Component Tightening

    • Regular Inspection: Use a Phillips screwdriver and an Allen wrench to inspect the following parts: the connecting screws between the seat and the gas lift, the fixing bolts between the base and the gas lift, the connecting screws between the armrests and the seat, and the buckles between the five-star base and the gas lift.
    • Timely Handling of Looseness: If any looseness is found, tighten it immediately. If the screw is stripped, replace it with a new screw of the same specification to avoid structural instability.
  5. Base Function Adjustment

    • Noise Handling: If there is noise in the tilt function, spray lubricating fluid (such as WD-40) at the pivot joint or spring.
    • Tension Adjustment: During daily use, adjust the tilt tension knob to a tightness suitable for your own weight to avoid the risk of tipping over due to excessive looseness.

Precautions:

  • Before cleaning, confirm the material type of the accessories to avoid mixing cleaners.
  • When not in use for a long time, it is recommended to cover it with a dust cover to reduce dust accumulation.
