Functions of Office Chair Accessories

Admin October 13, 2026

The accessories of office chairs and their functions are as follows:

Armrests: Their main function is to provide support and resting space for the user's arms. High-quality armrests usually have adjustable height and angle features, allowing flexible adjustments according to different sitting postures to enhance comfort.

Backrest: It is used to support the user's back, and its design and material directly affect the sitting experience. Some high-end backrests can adjust the tilt to adapt to the back curves of different users, providing a more fitting support effect.

Seat Cushion: It directly bears the body's pressure and is usually made of durable and comfortable materials. Some advanced seat cushions have depth adjustment functions, allowing the seat position to be adjusted according to the user's height and needs to ensure comfort during long-term use.

Casters/Wheels: They are key components for the mobility of office chairs, and their quality and performance directly affect the chair's flexibility and stability. High-quality wheels have features such as being silent, wear-resistant, and having strong load-bearing capacity. Some high-end products also have locking functions for easy positioning.

Base: It is responsible for connecting the gas lift and the backrest, determining whether the chair can recline, how smoothly it reclines, and how easy it is to adjust. Its main tasks include fixing and connecting various components, enabling the recline function (the backrest can recline backward due to the springs or torsion springs inside the base), and providing adjustment functions (such as locking the recline angle and adjusting the recline tension).

Foot Casters: Office chair foot casters usually come in two types: ordinary casters and PU casters. PU casters, due to their soft material properties, are suitable for use on wooden floors and in computer rooms as they will not scratch the floor.

Chair Legs: The thickness of the iron frame directly affects the chair's service life. Surface treatment methods include polishing, painting, baking paint, and electroplating. Chairs with high-quality electroplating are less likely to rust.

Gas Lift: Also known as a telescopic rod, it is used to adjust the height and rotation of the chair, allowing users to adjust their sitting posture as needed.

Backrest-Seat Connection (Corner Brace): The seat and the backrest are separate and connected by steel pipes or steel plates. The steel plates are usually 6mm or 8mm thick. Steel plates with a width of less than 6cm must be 8mm thick to ensure connection strength.

Lumbar Pillow: A properly designed lumbar pillow can reduce fatigue from long-term sitting and provide additional lumbar support.

Headrest: It is suitable for users who work for long hours and can enhance the comfort of the neck and head.

Dust Cover: It mainly wraps around the outside of the gas lift, serving as protection and decoration. It can prevent dust and debris from entering the inside of the gas lift, extending its service life, and also helps to enhance the overall aesthetics of the office chair.
