Composition of Office Chair Accessories

Admin October 22, 2026

The composition of office chair accessories mainly includes parts such as chair legs, gas cylinders, bases, wheels, seats, backrest-related components, and armrests.

Chair legs are the 'safety cornerstone' that supports the entire weight of the user. They come in a variety of materials, commonly including nylon, steel, and aluminum alloy. Different materials of chair legs vary in load-bearing capacity and stability. For example, the thickness of an iron frame affects the lifespan of the chair, while surface treatment methods such as polishing, painting, baking varnish, and electroplating not only influence the appearance of the chair legs but also play a role in their durability.

Gas cylinders are the core components for height adjustment in pneumatic lift chairs, operating based on high-pressure nitrogen. Safety is a key indicator for gas cylinders. Legitimate products must pass international safety certifications and undergo explosion-proof fatigue testing to ensure safety and reliability during use. Gas cylinders are not only used to adjust the height of the chair but also enable its rotation function.

The base is the central control hub for adjustments in an office chair, connecting the seat, gas cylinder, and five-star legs. It offers multiple functions, such as adjusting seat height, reclining the backrest, locking the recline angle, and adjusting recline tension/elasticity. High-end bases also feature synchronous tilt functions, providing a more comfortable sitting experience.

Wheels are an indispensable part of modern office chairs, typically used in conjunction with five-star legs and capable of 360-degree rotation. The material of the wheels directly affects their smoothness of movement, noise level, and protection of the floor. For example, PU wheels among ordinary casters use soft materials and are suitable for use on wooden floors and in computer rooms.

The seat is composed of wood panels, foam, and fabric. Foam comes in recycled and new varieties, while fabric options include hemp, mesh, and leather, each offering different textures and breathability.

Backrest-related components include backrest-seat connections (corner brackets), which use steel pipes or plates for connection when the seat and backrest are separate; backrest steel frames, with plastic-framed chairs combining mesh fabric; in addition, there are lumbar pillows and headrests that enhance chair comfort.

Armrests are also important accessories for office chairs, and their thickness affects the overall quality of the chair.
