Office Chair
Office chairs are chairs equipped for the convenience of work in daily work and social activities. There are various types, and when selecting one, attention should be paid to the lumbar support, adjustment functions, and materials, while also being mindful of quality issues.

Definition and Classification of Office Chairs
The English term for office chairs is 'office chair'. OfficeMate categorizes office chairs into narrow and broad definitions. The narrow definition refers to backrest chairs used when sitting at a desk for work. The broad definition encompasses all chairs used in offices, including executive chairs and staff chairs.
Types of Office Chairs
- Ergonomic Chairs: These chairs can move with the waist, with adjustable headrests, armrests, and lumbar supports, specifically designed to address lower back pain from prolonged sitting. For example, the SumLush Xia Mu Fit CC ergonomic chair features the ZeroG Flow dynamic lumbar support system, integrating multiple technologies to form a complete dynamic lumbar protection solution. It boasts flagship-level lumbar support configuration, with competitive performance in lumbar-back support and dynamic fit.
- Ordinary Swivel Chairs: These are basic models with height adjustment and rotation functions, meeting basic office needs.
Selection Tips
- Lumbar Support: Choose dynamic lumbar support that 'follows the waist'. A seat height of 40 to 44 centimeters is ideal, allowing feet to rest firmly on the ground.
- Adjustment Functions: Armrests should at least be adjustable up and down, and a rotatable headrest is preferable to meet the needs of different heights and usage scenarios.
- Materials: Mesh fabric is breathable and prevents sweating; high-elastic foam does not collapse after prolonged sitting; and the gas lift should be equipped with an explosion-proof steel plate to ensure safety.
Quality Issues

On September 30, 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation conducted a national supervision and inspection of office chairs and found that 15 batches of products were unqualified, with stability issues being prominent. On January 16, 2025, the United States recalled WorkPro Momentum office chairs made in China due to the risk of bolt failure, which posed a falling hazard. Seven reports had been received, including two minor injuries.
