Office Bucket Chair

Admin October 08, 2026

There are various types of bucket chair designs in office chairs. Some designs have significant shortcomings in office settings, but some brands have launched products with better adaptability.

Some bucket chairs, such as gaming chairs with a "racing bucket chair" design, originate from racing scenarios and have many issues in office settings. Firstly, poor long-sitting experience: The high side-wing wraps can enhance immersion and prevent body slippage, but they can cause strong shoulder compression, especially for users with broad shoulders. Fixed lumbar and head pillows can provide basic support, but they cannot conform to changes in sitting posture, leading to an empty lower back when leaning forward. PU leather thickened sponge seats look full and feel soft, but they are stuffy and non-breathable in summer, and can leave pressure marks on the back of the thighs. Secondly, poor body-type adaptability: Standard bucket chairs are mostly modeled on the average male body type, with a seat depth generally over 50 cm. This causes users under 170 cm in height to have their feet dangling in the air, with pelvic retroversion, further increasing lumbar pressure. These designs can lock the body against centrifugal force in racing, but in office settings, where usage requirements and durations differ greatly from those in racing, these characteristics become drawbacks. During long sitting, continuous shoulder compression can cause shoulder muscle fatigue and pain. The inability of the lumbar pillow to conform to sitting posture changes leaves the waist without effective support, easily causing waist discomfort. The non-breathable seat makes the thighs stuffy and damp in summer, affecting comfort, and the pressure marks may also affect leg blood circulation. As for the body-type adaptability issue, for users under 170 cm in height, dangling feet can make the leg muscles tense, and pelvic retroversion can change the natural physiological curvature of the spine, increasing lumbar pressure. Long-term use may lead to lumbar diseases.

However, some brands have launched office/ergonomic chair products covering price ranges from 300 to 2000, which are adaptable to all scenarios and may include bucket chair designs that better meet office needs. These products may have been optimized in terms of long-sitting experience and body-type adaptability to better satisfy office setting requirements.
