Nylon Office Chair Broken
Admin October 19, 2026
The solution for a broken nylon office chair depends on the broken part. Here are common situations and handling methods:

If the broken part is the five-star base, first determine the cause of the breakage. The load-bearing capacity of an ordinary nylon five-star base is usually below 100kg. Long-term use may lead to breakage due to material aging, deformation, or cracks. If the breakage is severe (such as complete disconnection, detachment of the central column, or serious deformation), the most reliable solution is to replace the entire base:
- Place the chair on its side or upside down on a soft pad to avoid scratching the seat or the floor;
- Observe the connection method between the five-star base and the gas lift (central column):
- Flat washer and snap ring fixation: Use a tool (such as needle-nose pliers) to remove the snap ring and pull out the old five-star base;
- Tapered press-fit fixation: Use a rubber mallet to gently tap the connection to loosen it and then remove it;
- Purchase a new five-star base that matches the original chair (pay attention to load-bearing capacity, size, and connector type), and install it in reverse order to ensure a firm connection.
If the broken part is the caster wheels, you can replace them yourself:
- Determine the wheel type:
- Threaded type: Unscrew it counterclockwise by hand or with a tool;
- Insert type: Pinch the wheel with both hands, press it downwards, and rotate it left and right to pull it out;
- Install the new wheels:
- Choose wheels that match the model, size, and load-bearing capacity (it is recommended that the load-bearing capacity be not less than the user's weight);
- For threaded types, screw them in clockwise and tighten them. For insert types, insert them vertically with force until you hear a 'click' to ensure they are properly installed.
Liability division should be based on the cause of the breakage:
- If the breakage is due to quality issues or design defects (such as poor welding or shoddy materials), the seller should be responsible for compensation or replacement;
- If the breakage is caused by improper operation by the user (such as overloading or violent movement) or external impact, the seller may not be liable.
Daily maintenance suggestions:
- Avoid long-term overloading (it is recommended that the load-bearing capacity of a nylon chair not exceed 100kg);
- Regularly check whether parts such as the five-star base and wheels are aging or loose;
- Avoid dragging the chair when moving it to reduce the impact on the parts.
