Non-Woven Fabric Under Office Chairs

Admin October 22, 2026

There are mainly two types of non-woven fabrics commonly found under office chairs: ordinary non-woven fabric and high-density polyester non-woven fabric. These two types differ significantly in terms of performance, price, and application scenarios.

Ordinary non-woven fabric is formed by pressing polyester or polypropylene fibers at high temperatures. It has the characteristics of low cost, good air permeability, and can be naturally degraded, meeting environmental protection requirements. A typical example is the Yanxuan Kubu black non-woven fabric, which has a weight of 90 grams per square meter, possesses tear resistance, and costs about 1.25 yuan per meter, making it suitable for budget-constrained scenarios. However, this material has relatively poor durability and is prone to shedding debris after three to five years of use. In actual use, its loose fiber structure may accelerate aging, and some products may even break within a year. Additionally, although its air permeability is good, the gaps between fibers can easily become breeding grounds for mites and bacteria, potentially affecting hygiene in long-term use.

High-density polyester non-woven fabric achieves performance upgrades through a tight weaving process, with a weight per square meter exceeding 100 grams, forming a dense structure similar to a fishing net. This material has excellent tensile resistance and is not easily deformed even when the chair is frequently moved. It does not mold when damp and remains stable in humid environments such as during the rainy season in southern China or in rooms with underfloor heating. High-end office chairs often use this type of material. Their black surfaces are specially dyed, not only being dirt-resistant but also maintaining their color for ten years without fading. At the same time, they can reduce dust้ฃžๆ‰ฌ and prevent scratches on floor tiles when the chair is moved. Although it is more expensive than ordinary non-woven fabric, its long-term durability and low maintenance costs make it a cost-effective choice.

The choice between the two materials should be based on the usage scenario: if a short-term, low-cost solution is pursued, ordinary non-woven fabric can meet basic needs, but its drawbacks such as easy aging and hygiene risks must be accepted; if long-term durability and environmental adaptability are emphasized, high-density polyester non-woven fabric is a better choice, especially suitable for humid areas or high-frequency usage scenarios. In addition, the black surface design has practical advantages in cleaning and maintenance, reducing the frequency of cleaning and the risk of floor damage.
