Non-Rotating Office Chair

Admin October 16, 2026

A non-rotating office chair may be due to design features or component failures, as detailed below:

Design Features

Some office chairs are designed as non-rotating models from the outset. For example, the NB261 non-rotating chair adopts a fixed structure, eliminating the rotation function at its source to achieve a stable, non-rotating characteristic that meets the stability requirements in specific scenarios. Additionally, some light gray computer chairs often feature a bow-shaped base design, which also removes the rotation function through this fixed structure, ensuring that the chair does not rotate randomly when the user is seated, thereby enhancing stability during use.

Component Failures

  1. Wheel Issues: The wheels at the bottom of a swivel chair are crucial factors affecting rotation. If the wheels are damaged, such as having severely worn surfaces, it can lead to difficult or impossible rotation. In such cases, consider replacing the wheels with new ones. If the wheels are stuck with foreign objects like paper scraps, hair, or threads, these debris can obstruct normal wheel rolling. Carefully remove the debris and check if the wheels can rotate again. Additionally, if the wheel axles are loose or rusty, it can also affect rotation. Try tightening the screws or use a rust remover on the axles, remove the rust, and then add some lubricating oil to improve rotation.
  2. Axle Issues: A lack of oil inside the axle is a common cause of difficult rotation. When the axle lacks lubrication, friction between components increases, making rotation difficult. Add an appropriate amount of lubricating oil, such as common sewing machine oil, and rotate the swivel chair after injection to allow the oil to fully lubricate the inside of the axle, thereby improving rotation.
  3. Loose Connecting Components: Various connecting components of an office chair, such as the connections between the armrests and the seat, and between the seat and the base, can affect the overall structure and rotation function of the chair if they become loose. Carefully inspect all connecting parts, such as screws, and tighten any loose parts. However, be careful not to overtighten to avoid damaging the components.
  4. Gas Cylinder Issues: The gas cylinder is one of the key components for the height adjustment and rotation of an office chair. If the gas cylinder is bent, deformed, or otherwise damaged, it can severely affect the chair's rotation function and may even pose safety hazards. In such cases, it may be necessary to contact a professional repair technician or replace the gas cylinder with a new one. Improper self-handling may lead to more serious problems.
