Non-Adjustable Office Chair

Admin October 12, 2026

A non-adjustable office chair refers to an office chair whose height cannot be adjusted, commonly found in office settings with fixed heights. When an adjustable office chair fails to adjust its height, it may be due to various reasons.

Firstly, gas cylinder (gas rod) issues are one of the common causes of an office chair's inability to adjust its height. The gas cylinder is the core component of a pneumatic office chair, with its internal piston rod moving up and down to control the chair's height adjustment. If the gas cylinder is damaged or malfunctions, such as due to aging internal seals or gas leakage, the height adjustment function will fail. Additionally, improper installation of the gas cylinder can also affect its normal operation, such as failing to fully insert the gas cylinder into the base or seat during installation, or damaging certain components of the gas cylinder during the installation process. Another situation is that a newly purchased office chair may have a plastic cover on top of the gas cylinder; if this cover is not removed, it can also hinder the normal extension and retraction of the gas cylinder, preventing the chair from adjusting its height.

Secondly, adjustment mechanism failures are also a factor that cannot be ignored. The adjustment mechanism of an office chair typically includes components such as handles and connecting rods, which are responsible for converting the user's operations into the extension and retraction actions of the gas cylinder. If the adjustment mechanism fails, such as due to a damaged handle, a broken or loose connecting rod, the user will be unable to control the chair's height adjustment through the adjustment mechanism.

Furthermore, issues with other components can also cause an office chair to fail to adjust its height. For example, failures in components such as the base or butterfly plate may affect the normal operation of the gas cylinder or the stability of the chair. Damage or aging of these components may cause the chair to experience stuttering, abnormal noises, or complete inability to adjust its height during the adjustment process.

Finally, gas rod failures and aging of the height adjustment mechanism are also important reasons for an office chair's inability to adjust its height. Damage to the pneumatic system or wear and tear at the connection between the gas rod and the base, leading to gas leakage, can all cause the gas rod to fail to operate normally. Additionally, aging of the height adjustment mechanism, such as damage to the hydraulic cylinder, hydraulic piping, and adjustment valves, can also affect the chair's height adjustment function. Furthermore, damage to the adjustment buttons may also prevent the user from operating the chair to adjust its height.
