Muji Office Chair Installation
Admin October 16, 2026
Although there is no specific installation information for Muji office chairs, you can refer to the general installation steps for office chairs for operation. Details are as follows:

I. Preparation
- Familiarize with the manual: Carefully read the installation manual of the Muji office chair to understand the names, functions, and installation sequence of each component. Although Muji products are usually designed simply, different models may have differences, and the manual is the key basis for ensuring correct installation.
- Check components: Check all components and screws one by one according to the manual list to ensure there are no missing or damaged parts. If you find mismatched parts, contact after-sales service promptly.
- Prepare tools: Prepare tools according to installation requirements, including screwdrivers (cross/flat), wrenches, glue (optional), tape (for fixing bottom cables or anti-slip), etc. If the chair has a complex structure, an electric drill may be required for auxiliary drilling, but most Muji office chairs are designed to be optimized and do not require additional drilling.
II. Installation Steps
Install the base
- Place the base flat on the ground and install the casters (if it is a mobile model) one by one to ensure the casters rotate flexibly.
- Insert the gas rod (support column) into the central hole of the base and fix the bottom screw with a screwdriver (some models may use a snap-fit design and do not require screws).
- Adjust the height of the gas rod to the lowest position for easy subsequent installation of the seat.
Install the armrests
- If the armrests are independent components, first insert the armrest fixing clips into the tenons on both sides of the backrest and tighten the screws with a screwdriver.
- Install the armrest fixing bases onto the slide rails under the seat (some models need to align with the reserved holes) and fix them with a screwdriver.
- Align the armrests with the fixing bases and tighten the connecting screws with a wrench to ensure the armrests are stable and do not wobble.
Connect the seat and the legs
- Align the seat with the holes on the top of the legs and fix them with screws on both sides (some models may use a dual-fixing method of clips and screws).
- If the chair has a design where the armrests are connected to the legs, use screws to fix the bottom of the armrests to the sides of the legs to enhance overall stability.
Fix the backrest
- Align the backrest with the holes at the back of the legs and fix it with screws from the inside (some models may use a hidden screw design).
- Check whether the joint between the backrest and the seat is flat to avoid excessive gaps affecting comfort.
Final touches
- Fix the bottom cables of the chair (if any) with tape to prevent scratching the floor when sliding.
- If you need to increase the installation density of the handles, you can apply a small amount of glue to the screws (this is not a necessary step and should be operated according to the manual's recommendations).
III. Inspection and Adjustment
- Safety inspection: Shake the chair to test whether the connections of each component are firm and ensure there is no looseness or abnormal noise.
- Function test: Adjust functions such as the height of the gas rod and the tilt of the backrest (if available) to confirm smooth operation.
- Detail adjustment: Fine-tune the height of the armrests, the angle of the seat, etc. according to personal needs to ensure comfortable use.
If you encounter difficulties during the installation process, it is recommended to take photos and contact Muji customer service or refer to the official video tutorial to avoid forced assembly causing damage to the components.
