Metal Office Chair Base
The metal office chair base is a core component of office chairs, responsible for connecting the seat, gas lift, and five-star base, and enabling adjustments such as seat height, recline, angle locking, and recline tension. It is typically made of a metal frame formed by welding low-carbon steel pipes or aluminum alloy die-casting. Different grades of bases vary significantly in functionality, structure, and price.

1. Standard Base (Fixed Type)
This type of base has a flat-plate structure with no adjustment handles and limited functionality. The backrest and seat cushion are fixed, unable to recline or adjust angles, making it suitable for bow chairs, four-legged chairs, or very low-cost swivel chairs. Due to the lack of adjustment features, it has a simple structure and low cost but offers poor comfort, commonly found in the low-end market.
2. Single Recline Base (Basic Tilt Base)
Equipped with a small wrench or knob on the side, this base supports recline functionality with a backrest tilt angle typically ranging from 20-30ยฐ, but it cannot lock the angle and automatically returns to the upright position when released. This type of base is suitable for basic employee chairs or home computer chairs, priced moderately, meeting basic recline needs but lacking angle-locking functionality and offering limited comfort.
3. Lockable Single Recline Base (Lockable Tilt Base)
This base features a thicker lever or hand-operated switch on the side, supporting recline and angle locking (e.g., 90ยฐ for work, 110ยฐ for slight reclining). Some models also allow adjustment of the recline spring tension to accommodate users of different weights. This type of base is commonly found in mainstream-priced office chairs or entry-level ergonomic chairs, offering more comprehensive functionality and significantly improved comfort.
4. Synchronous Tilt Base (Linked Tilt Base)
With a robust structure containing multiple connecting rods, this base enables the seat cushion and backrest to move in tandem during recline (e.g., if the backrest reclines by 25ยฐ, the front of the seat cushion rises by 5ยฐ), conforming to the body's curves and distributing pressure. This type of base is mostly used in mid-to-high-end ergonomic chairs (priced above 1,000 yuan), suitable for long hours of office work but comes at a higher price.
5. Cable-Controlled Base and Gravity-Sensing Base
The cable-controlled base integrates all adjustment functions into a handle, eliminating the need to bend over and enhancing convenience; the gravity-sensing base uses built-in sensors to automatically adjust the recline resistance based on the user's weight, providing an "adaptive" comfortable experience. These two types of bases are commonly found in high-end ergonomic chairs, featuring complex technology and higher prices.
In terms of price, the type and material of the base directly affect the cost. For example, an aluminum alloy tray costs about 47 yuan, while a high-end synchronous tilt or gravity-sensing base can cost several hundred yuan. When purchasing, it is essential to consider both budget and functional requirements comprehensively.
