Metal Folding Office Chair

Admin October 11, 2026

Metal folding office chairs typically feature lightweight sturdiness, repairability, and strong load-bearing capacity. Their production process involves material preparation, frame assembly, hinge installation, and surface treatment.

Core Features

Metal folding office chairs are primarily constructed with an all-metal frame, without plastic shells or permanently welded designs, with core advantages in durability and maintainability. Their load-bearing capacity usually exceeds 150 kilograms, enabling them to withstand frequent folding and weight-bearing demands in real-world usage scenarios. The modular design allows for easy repair by replacing individual parts (such as loose bolts or deformed steel tubes) instead of discarding the entire chair, thereby extending its service life. Additionally, the lightweight nature of the metal material (such as square steel tubes) facilitates easy transportation while maintaining sufficient structural strength.

Production Process

  1. Material Preparation
Prepare four 50-centimeter and four 40-centimeter square steel tubes as the main frame, along with four 35-centimeter short tubes as internal cross-braces. Material selection should consider bending resistance, typically opting for cold-rolled steel or aluminum alloy to ensure load-bearing requirements.

  2. Frame Assembly

    • Marking and Processing: Mark the steel tubes to determine bolt hole positions, followed by drilling and cutting operations. Hole precision directly affects frame stability, necessitating the use of professional tools (such as a bench drill) to ensure perpendicularity.
    • Bolt Connection: Assemble the steel tubes into a rectangular outer frame using bolts, washers, and nuts, with internal cross-braces fixed in the same manner to form a double-layer structure for enhanced anti-deformation capability. Avoid over-tightening bolts at this stage to allow for subsequent fine-tuning.
    • Welding Reinforcement: Weld key frame nodes (such as the junctions between the outer frame and internal cross-braces) to enhance overall rigidity. After welding, inspect weld uniformity to prevent reduced load-bearing capacity due to incomplete welds.
  3. Hinge Installation and Adjustment
After producing two identical frames, install hinge hinges at corresponding positions. Choose high-strength hinge models (such as 304 stainless steel) to ensure over 10,000 folding cycles without loosening. After installation, repeatedly unfold and fold the chair, fine-tuning bolt tightness to eliminate any stuttering or wobbling.

  4. Surface Treatment
Sand the chair frame to remove burrs and welding slag, then spray with black anti-rust paint. The paint layer should uniformly cover the frame with a thickness controlled between 50-80 micrometers to isolate air and moisture, preventing metal oxidation and corrosion.

Application Scenarios

These chairs are widely used in conference rooms, training rooms, outdoor events, and other settings. Their folding functionality saves storage space, while the metal material makes them suitable for high-frequency usage environments, such as public office areas or temporary stalls.
