Mesh Office Chair Repair
The repair of a mesh office chair requires targeted measures based on specific issues. Here are common faults and repair methods:

Wheel Faults
If the wheels cannot rotate or rotate smoothly, first check if they are stuck by debris. When removing the wheels, flip the chair over, locate the wheel mounting area, unscrew the old wheels, and clean out internal dust, hair, and other debris. If the wheel axle is rusty or worn, replace it with a suitable new wheel, ensuring the screws are tightened during installation. If the wheels rotate stiffly but there is no debris, apply a small amount of lubricant (such as WD-40) to the axle and rotate the wheels repeatedly to allow the lubricant to penetrate and restore smooth rotation.
Backrest Adjustment Faults
When the backrest cannot be fixed or adjusted properly, check the adjustment mechanism. Step 1 is to confirm whether the connection between the adjustment button or handle and the internal mechanism is loose. If so, re-tighten the screws or clips. Step 2 involves checking if the adjustment rod, gears, or other components are worn or broken. If damaged, replace the entire adjustment mechanism (contact after-sales service or purchase universal parts). Step 3 is to apply lubricant to the moving parts of the adjustment mechanism (such as the connection between the adjustment rod and fixed parts) and adjust it several times to reduce friction and restore smooth operation.
Mesh Sagging
Choose a repair method based on the degree of sagging:
- Mild sagging (sagging < 1 cm, local looseness): Tighten the screws of the mesh fixing straps under the seat cushion, re-tighten the straps in a crisscross pattern, and secure them with additional nails at the joints. Alternatively, add a thin high-density foam pad (costing about 50 yuan) directly to the sagging area to temporarily improve support, though it may not fully restore support.
- Moderate sagging (sagging 1-2 cm, overall looseness of the mesh but no damage): If the chair is still under warranty, contact the brand's after-sales service to request a free mesh replacement or adjustment. If the warranty has expired, purchase a replacement mesh of the same size (ordinary dragon-patterned mesh costs about 100-200 yuan, while U-mesh costs about 200-300 yuan). Users with strong hands-on skills can disassemble the old mesh and install the new one according to the instructions, or pay for third-party repair services to come and replace it.
- Severe sagging (sagging > 2 cm, mesh damage or frame looseness): Repair is not recommended, as frame looseness can lead to insufficient support, and even replacing the mesh may result in repeated sagging. If accompanied by issues such as ineffective lumbar support or damaged adjustment functions, replacing the chair entirely is more cost-effective.
