Making Office Chairs

Admin October 08, 2026

The process of making office chairs involves multiple rigorous and orderly steps, as detailed below:

Step 1: Fabricate the Seat Cushion Frame
Insert square steel tubes into a hydraulic press to bend them into a square frame with rounded corners at each corner, ensuring structural stability and ergonomic design. Subsequently, weld support steel plates to the frame's openings to form the foundational support structure. This step requires strict control over the bending angle of the steel tubes and welding precision to prevent frame deformation that could affect subsequent assembly.

Step 2: Install Springs and Support System
Evenly hook S-shaped springs onto the frame to create an elastic support layer. Connect three support steel bars in opposite directions to the springs, enhancing load-bearing capacity through a cross-layout. Simultaneously, hang S-shaped steel springs from the front to the back of the seat, securing horizontal bars and tightening them to further improve the seat's stability and shock resistance.

Step 3: Construct the Backrest and Armrest Frames
Employ the same welding process used for the seat cushion frame to fabricate the backrest frame, including spinal support structures and armrest attachments. After welding, use sandpaper to smooth out steel burrs to prevent scratches on the leather or interference with assembly. This step requires a focus on checking the frame's perpendicularity and symmetry to ensure the backrest and seat cushion angles are coordinated.

Step 4: Process Leather Materials
Cover a plastic template over the surface of black leather and precisely cut along the template's edges using a utility knife to obtain covering materials for components such as headrests and armrests. When cutting, avoid natural leather flaws and reserve a 3-5mm seam allowance. After processing, the leather should be smoothly sanded to eliminate cutting marks.

Step 5: Fabricate Seat Cushions and Backrests

  • Hard Foam Layer: Adhere the leather to a relatively hard foam cushion, cutting it to a size 10% larger than the frame to ensure no exposed edges after wrapping.
  • Soft Pleated Layer: Select fluffy foam, cut it into squares, and then cut it along preset intervals into connected rectangles, forming a three-dimensional support structure through pleated sewing. When sewing, mark cutting lines on the leather to ensure even pleat distribution.
  • Decorative Stitching: Perform double-line stitching on the edges of the seat cushion to increase durability and enhance aesthetics.

Step 6: Wrap Metal Frames
Wrap a foam cushion layer around the surface of the metal frame to provide shock absorption and anti-slip properties. Slide the sewn leather cover onto the frame and secure it with hidden snaps or glue to ensure a flat, wrinkle-free surface.

Step 7: Assemble Components
Secure the cover plate to the frame with screws andๆ‹ผๆŽฅ (assemble) adjustable components such as lifting armrests, hydraulic rods, and gas springs to the bottom support bar. Focus on testing the smoothness of the lifting mechanism to ensure the gas spring pressure meets standards (typically 400-600N).

Step 8: Install Wheels and Accessories
Attach silent casters to the base's five-claw structure, controlling torque between 8-10Nยทm. Finally, insert the headrest and armrests, checking that all components are securely connected and completing the final debugging.
