Making Office Chair Cushions

Admin October 13, 2026

There are several common methods for making office chair cushions:

Making with corduroy fabric: First, purchase corduroy fabric of the appropriate color and texture. This fabric is soft and has a certain degree of wear resistance, making it suitable as the surface material for the cushion. Next, cut the fabric into the appropriate shape according to the size of the office chair seat, usually rectangular or square. Then, lay a layer of cotton inside to form a two-layer structure. The thickness of the cotton can be adjusted according to personal preferences for the cushion's firmness. During the making process, multiple attempts and adjustments are required, such as handling the length and position of the fabric edges (possibly referring to the edge parts) to ensure that the cushion edges are flat and fit the chair surface well. Finally, secure the cushion with elastic bands to prevent it from moving around during use and affecting the user experience.

Making with square and rectangular fabrics: Prepare two square pieces of fabric measuring 37 by 37 and one rectangular piece measuring 10 by 155. First, divide each side of the squares into three equal parts and then connect the points to draw a tic-tac-toe grid. This step is for subsequent folding and stitching operations on the fabric to form the basic shape of the cushion. During the subsequent making process, you can perform filling and stitching operations based on the tic-tac-toe grid according to personal preferences and actual needs, such as filling with soft materials like sponge or cotton to increase the cushion's comfort, and then using the rectangular fabric for edge decoration or securing parts of the cushion.

Remodeling with old clothes: Cut off the sleeves and edges of the old clothes, fold the clothes in half after cutting them into large pieces, and then draw lines and cut them into rectangular squares for later use. Join the cut fabric pieces together. For black and red old clothes, handle and stitch them separately. Measure and cut a certain length into small sections and stitch them. Turn them over, cut the remaining fabric into scraps, mix them with cotton, and stuff them into the small sections until full, then stitch the openings. Stitch the stitched parts one above the other to form the main body of the cushion. Finally, decorate with black lace, and a beautiful and eco-friendly office chair cushion is completed. This method not only achieves the reuse of old items but also allows you to make unique cushions according to your own creativity.
