Making Office Chair Base
There are mainly three methods for making office chair bases: cardboard splicing, injection molding, and assembly.

Making a simple base by cardboard splicing: This is a relatively simple and low-cost manufacturing method. First, prepare a circular cardboard with a radius of 8 cm, which serves as the main support part of the base. Then, draw grooves in the middle of the supports and cut them out. Do the same on the other side to facilitate splicing. After that, to enhance aesthetics and comfort, wrap paper around the surfaces of the supports and also cover the circular cardboard with a layer of paper. However, this type of cardboard-spliced base has relatively low strength and is only suitable for temporary or simple scenarios with low requirements for load-bearing capacity and durability.
Making a nylon base by injection molding: This is a commonly used method in industrial production. Office chair base molds are usually used to produce bases with five-claw or six-claw structures, mainly made of nylon PA66 + glass fiber. The manufacturing process involves precisely injecting high-temperature molten plastic raw materials into a pre-set cavity. Within a very short time, typically 8 - 12 seconds, the plastic raw materials cool and solidify, forming a base with a central shaft hole, claw arms, and reinforcing ribs. The complete injection molding process includes multiple steps. Before molding, preparations such as confirming the performance of raw materials and preheating and drying the raw materials are required to ensure that the raw material quality meets the requirements. The injection process includes steps such as feeding, plasticizing, injecting, cooling, and demolding, and each step requires precise control of parameters to ensure the quality and dimensional accuracy of the base. After the parts are molded, post-processing such as heat treatment and humidity adjustment is also needed to further improve the performance and stability of the base.
Making a base by assembly: The base is assembled during the assembly of the office chair. First, turn the base upside down and place it on a fixing frame. Install the casters into the caster posts, and then use a pneumatic press to secure the casters to the base to ensure that the casters are firmly installed. Next, install the pneumatic cylinder for height adjustment on the base, and then use a machine to firmly fix the pneumatic cylinder and the tilting device to the base, completing the assembly of the base. This method is suitable for situations where all the components have already been manufactured and only need to be assembled, ensuring accurate connection and stable operation of all components of the office chair.
