Low-Quality Office Chair Legs

Admin October 11, 2026

Low-quality office chair legs may have issues such as thin and weak five-star leg tubes and substandard caster quality.

Thin and Weak Five-Star Leg Tubes: As a crucial component of swivel chairs, five-star legs bear the weight of the human body. However, to reduce costs, some low-quality office chairs are manufactured with very thin metal five-star leg tubes or use materials with poor strength. This significantly weakens the load-bearing capacity of the five-star legs. During daily use, they are highly prone to breakage when subjected to significant pressure or impact. For example, in relevant tests, there have been cases where the five-star legs of office chairs were directly crushed by testing equipment during base static load tests. Once a five-star leg breaks, the user is likely to lose balance and fall, resulting in physical injuries such as fractures and abrasions, posing a serious threat to the user's health and safety.

Substandard Caster Quality: The quality of casters directly affects the lifespan and convenience of use of office chairs. In relevant national sampling tests, it was found that five batches of office chairs failed the reciprocating wear test for casters. This is mainly because some merchants, in pursuit of maximum profit, choose low-quality materials when purchasing caster raw materials. The price of casters varies greatly; cheap ones may cost only 1 or 2 yuan, while better-quality ones may cost around 10 yuan. Qualified casters can guarantee 100,000 uses without damage, while poor-quality casters may break after only 10,000 to 20,000 uses. When casters are damaged, the mobility of the office chair becomes difficult or even impossible, not only affecting the user experience but also potentially increasing usage costs due to the need for frequent caster replacements. Additionally, poor-quality casters may generate significant noise during movement, disrupting the work environment.
