Longmen Office Chair Renovation
The renovation of Longmen office chairs can be carried out according to the following steps, and caution should be exercised based on the material and structure:

1. Removing Old Fabric and Cleaning If the chair surface fabric needs to be replaced, first remove the old fabric. Use tailor's scissors or specialized tools to carefully peel off the fabric, avoiding damage to the frame; at the same time, use a staple remover to clean up any remaining staples or fasteners. If the chair frame needs to be treated (such as painting or repairing), first remove soft parts like the seat cushion and backrest, and clean surface stains, dust, or old paint. Retain reusable accessories (such as screws and fasteners) and mark their original positions for subsequent installation. If the chair involves complex structures (such as pneumatic rods or rotating bases) or precious materials (such as solid wood or genuine leather), it is advisable to consult professional repair personnel first to avoid damage caused by improper operation.
2. Frame Repair and Sanding For wooden or metal frames, check the structural stability. If the chair legs are loose or the connections are cracked, use wood glue, metal corner braces, or professional reinforcement parts for repair; if the damage is severe (such as for precious materials like rosewood), contact a professional craftsman for handling. After repair, sand the frame surface with 240-grit sandpaper, especially for parts that need to be painted, to remove burrs and old paint layers, making the surface flat and smooth. When sanding, operate along the direction of the wood grain to avoid rough surfaces caused by sanding against the grain.
3. Painting or Reupholstering
- Painting: Choose an environmentally friendly wood paint (such as water-based paint or Sanqing paint) and adjust the color according to your needs. Apply thin coats in 2-3 layers using a roller or brush, with an interval of 2-3 hours between each layer. Use a small brush to touch up gaps or details. Finally, lightly sand the surface with fine sandpaper to enhance the gloss. If using spray paint, maintain a distance of 20-30 centimeters and spray in multiple layers to avoid runs.
- Reupholstering: Choose a wear-resistant fabric (such as tech fabric or canvas). When cutting, make the fabric about 5 centimeters larger than the frame size, leaving a fixing edge. Cover the frame with the fabric, pull it tight from the center to the sides, and fix it every 3 centimeters with a pneumatic stapler or manual U-shaped staples to ensure the fabric is flat and wrinkle-free. If the fabric needs to be spliced, use a sewing machine to overlock the edges to prevent fraying.
Key Reminder: After renovation, ventilate and dry for more than 24 hours before use to ensure that the paint or glue smell has completely dissipated. If you are not familiar with the operation process or the chair has a complex structure, it is advisable to seek professional help first to avoid safety hazards or further damage caused by operational errors.
