Leather Office Chair Production

Admin October 10, 2026

The production of leather office chairs involves five core processes: raw material selection and inspection, frame fabrication, leather cutting and stitching, padding and assembly, and quality inspection.

Raw material selection and inspection is the foundation of production. As the core material, leather must be selected from full-grain, corrected-grain, or composite leather (PU leather), among others. Upon arrival at the factory, it undergoes strict checks for color uniformity, thickness, softness, and surface defects, along with tests for physical properties such as tensile strength, abrasion resistance, and scratch resistance. Other materials, including high-density resilient foam, metal components (five-star bases, gas lifts), precision gas rods, chassis mechanisms, and casters, must also pass quality tests to ensure compliance with durability and safety standards.

Frame fabrication requires a balance of strength and aesthetics. Metal frames are shaped through cutting, bending, welding, and grinding processes, with welded joints polished smooth to prevent damage to the leather or users. After pre-treatment (degreasing, rust removal), the frames are coated with a durable, abrasion-resistant finish using electrostatic powder spraying. Another common method involves bending square steel tubes into a square base frame with rounded corners, welding support plates, and installing S-shaped springs and reinforcing steel bars to enhance structural stability.

Leather cutting and stitching demand precision. Sewing operators use industrial sewing machines to stitch leather into three-dimensional components (e.g., seat covers, backrest covers, armrest covers), employing techniques such as plain stitching and double-needle stitching to ensure neat, secure seams with natural pattern alignment. The leather is cut according to plastic templates, adhered to foam cushioning, and then trimmed to slightly larger dimensions for seat and backrest production. The backrest uses softer, fluffy foam pads, which are cut into connected rectangles and marked at equal intervals on the leather for pleated stitching, enhancing comfort.

Padding and assembly ensure functionality and comfort. The seat and backrest are padded with high-density resilient foam, cut to specific shapes, and stitched to the leather. The metal frame is wrapped in foam padding, covered with the stitched leather upholstery, and secured with screws and cover plates. Components such as adjustable armrests, hydraulic rods, gas rods, and bottom support bars are then installed to enable free height adjustment. Finally, wheels, headrests, and armrests are attached to complete the assembly.

Quality inspection serves as the final safeguard. The stitched leather covers are checked for loose threads, skipped stitches, or stains. All materials and components must pass relevant quality tests before being stored in the warehouse, ensuring the leather office chairs combine functionality with aesthetic appeal.
