Leather Office Chair Disassembly
Admin October 10, 2026
The disassembly of a leather office chair can refer to the disassembly method of a genuine leather office swivel chair. The specific steps are as follows:

Preparation before Disassembly
- Tool Preparation: You need to prepare a rubber mallet (to avoid leaving dents on the paint surface), a Phillips or flat-head screwdriver, a wrench, and large scissors or diagonal pliers. The rubber mallet is used to strike components and reduce damage to the paint surface; the screwdriver and wrench are used to remove screws and fasteners; large scissors or diagonal pliers may be used when removing casters.
- Operating Environment: Choose a spacious, clean space with a flat floor. Lay a layer of soft cloth or cardboard on the ground to prevent scratching the leather surface. Before disassembly, it is recommended to take a few photos of the various connecting parts of the chair with your mobile phone or make small marks on the parts with a marker pen for easy reassembly later.
Disassembly Steps
- Removing Casters: Simply grasp the wheel and pull it out forcefully; if it doesn't come out, insert a flat-head screwdriver or diagonal pliers into the gap between the wheel and the chair leg and pry it open forcefully; if the wheel is stuck due to hair or debris entanglement, first lay the chair down, clean the debris with long scissors or bent-nose tweezers, and then repeat the above steps.
- Removing the Gas Lift: Turn the chair upside down to expose the connection between the gas lift and the five-star base (chair legs). Strike the lower part of the connection between the gas lift and the five-star base (usually a red or silver metal part) forcefully with a rubber mallet, avoiding the green or black part with hydraulic oil; if it is still tight after striking, apply some cooking oil to the connection for lubrication and let it stand for 1-2 hours before striking again; remember not to pry it open forcefully with a metal hammer or wrench to avoid damaging the sealing of the gas lift, causing air leakage or even explosion.
- Removing the Seat Cushion: After removing the gas lift, turn the chair upside down on the ground. Strike the metal rim at the bottom of the seat cushion evenly with a rubber mallet, and then pull it upward with your hands. Repeat this several times to loosen the base; then use a screwdriver to remove the upper seat screws connecting the seat cushion and the chassis, and then strike the metal chassis lightly with a hammer. Hold the hydraulic rod with one hand and step on the chassis with your foot to separate them completely.
- Removing the Chair Back: The disassembly of the chair back depends on its fixing method. Most chairs are fixed with screws. Use a screwdriver to find and remove the screws at the connection between the chair back and the seat cushion.
