Leather Office Chair Cleaning

Admin October 12, 2026

Cleaning leather office chairs requires selecting appropriate methods based on the type of stain and the chair's design. Avoid using strong acid or alkaline cleaners, and proper maintenance after cleaning can extend the chair's lifespan.

I. Basic Cleaning Principles
Leather is sensitive to acids and alkalis. Strong acid or alkaline cleaners can damage the surface coating, causing the leather to crack and fade. It is advisable to prioritize using specialized leather cleaners, such as Baoneng's cleaner with a brush, which can decompose stains by simply spraying and gently brushing. If needed temporarily, 5% soapy water can be used as an alternative, but after cleaning, the residue must be wiped off with a damp cloth to prevent soap scum buildup.

II. Targeted Stain Removal

  1. Liquid Stains (coffee, milk tea): Use a nano cleaner, whose tiny molecules can quickly penetrate and decompose organic matter, preventing stains from seeping into the leather fibers.
  2. Oil Stains: Gently dab with an alcohol wipe. Alcohol's volatility allows it to quickly dissolve grease. After wiping, immediately absorb any residue with a dry cloth to prevent the alcohol from hardening the leather over prolonged contact.
  3. Perforated Design Seats: Use a foam cleaner, which has a dense texture and can adhere to the surface of the holes for cleaning, preventing liquids from seeping into the internal sponge and causing mildew. When using, slowly squeeze it out like cream, cover the stain, and let it sit for 2-3 minutes before wiping.

III. Cleaning Points for Special Designs
If the office chair has breathable holes or hollow structures, extra care is needed during cleaning:

  • Avoid directly spraying liquid cleaners to prevent moisture from seeping into the internal filling through the holes.
  • After cleaning, thoroughly dry the hole areas with a dry cloth or a hairdryer (on a low setting) to prevent mold growth in humid environments.
  • For stubborn stains, first use a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of cleaner for local treatment before expanding the cleaning area.

IV. Post-Cleaning Maintenance
After cleaning, it is recommended to apply a leather protector cream. The natural waxes and oils it contains can form a protective film on the leather surface, isolating dust and stains while maintaining the leather's softness. When applying, use a clean soft cloth to wipe evenly in a circular motion to avoid uneven gloss caused by local accumulation.
