Japanese Office Chair Repair

Admin October 09, 2026

The repair methods for Japanese office chairs should be selected based on different materials and damage conditions.

For cracked leather seats:
When repairing, the Japanese first cut a piece of rubber that matches the shape and size of the crack. After peeling off the backing paper on the back of the rubber, they carefully stick it to the crack. Once stuck, they apply appropriate pressure to press and flatten it, holding it for about 5 minutes. This ensures that the rubber is firmly adhered to the seat, completing the repair of the cracked leather seat. This method is relatively simple to operate and can effectively repair the damage to the leather seat, restoring its appearance and functionality.

For broken rosewood chairs:
Japanese carpenters have a set of meticulous repair procedures. First, they use suitable glue to stick the broken parts together, ensuring a firm initial connection. Then, they tightly clamp the broken parts with splints to prevent them from shifting again during subsequent operations. Next, they drill three evenly spaced holes at the broken part and insert wooden sticks in a mortise-and-tenon structure into the holes to further strengthen the connection at the broken part. After completing these steps, they sand the repaired area to make its surface smooth and even. Then, they perform color matching and texture drawing to make the repaired part match the overall color and texture of the chair. After that, they use a hot air gun to bake the repaired area to prevent the color from changing during subsequent processing. Finally, they spray a protective paint and dry it with a hot air gun, making the repaired rosewood chair not only sturdy and durable but also almost invisible in terms of repair marks on the appearance.

For office chairs tilted to one side:
First, check whether the wheels are damaged or whether the ground is level. If it is found that the chair is tilted due to damaged wheels, the wheels need to be replaced. The specific operation is to first remove the old wheels, apply an appropriate amount of lubricant to the wheel mounting area to facilitate the installation of the new wheels and subsequent use. Then install the new wheels and test them after installation to ensure that the chair can move smoothly without tilting again.
