The Japan Office Chair Race is a unique entertainment event aimed at promoting urban vitality and relieving stress for white-collar workers, also known as the Office Chair Racing Competition. The following provides an introduction from three aspects: event organization, competition rules, and prize settings.

Event Organization: The location of the race varies. It was once held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Ichinomiya City's municipal government in Aichi Prefecture, and the most recent race took place in the central commercial district of Hasuda City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. During the event, roads around the venue are closed, and staff members lay out a dedicated race track a week in advance. The most recent track was approximately 200 meters long.

Competition Rules: There are many participants. In the most recent race, about 170 participants were divided into 56 teams, with 3 members per team. The competition consists of two rounds. The first round is the preliminary round, in which all 56 teams participate, and the winning 28 teams advance to the second round to compete for the Chair Gold Award. In the Chair Gold Award competition, each team's 3 members sit on office chairs and use their feet to kick the ground, alternating backward movement, and must race for a full 2 hours. In the most recent race, the champion team covered approximately 25 kilometers in 2 hours.

Prize Settings: The prizes have local characteristics. The champion team in the most recent race received 90 kilograms of locally produced rice from Yamagata Prefecture. In the previous race held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Ichinomiya City's municipal government in Aichi Prefecture, the champion also received prizes including 90 kilograms of rice, worth approximately 90,000 yen (about 5,000 RMB).

The Japan Office Chair Race, with its unique competition format and interesting rules, attracts many white-collar workers to participate, not only adding vitality to the city but also providing a way for busy office workers to release stress and enjoy themselves.
