Is a Leather Office Chair Hot in Summer?

Admin October 08, 2026

Whether a leather office chair feels hot in summer depends on its material. Different types of leather office chairs vary significantly in terms of stuffiness during summer use.

Microfiber leather office chairs tend to cause a stuffy feeling when used for extended periods in summer. Microfiber leather is a synthetic material with a relatively closed surface and poor breathability. When a person sits on a microfiber leather office chair, the heat and sweat generated by the body have difficulty dissipating quickly. After sitting for just ten minutes, one may start to sweat, and the stuffy feeling intensifies over time.

Common leather office chairs, such as those made of PU leather, also suffer from poor breathability. PU leather has a closed surface layer, causing heat to accumulate between the body and the chair surface. In summer, when the body has a high demand for heat dissipation, PU leather office chairs cannot effectively release heat, leading to inevitable sweating and discomfort after prolonged sitting.

However, not all leather office chairs feel stuffy in summer. Some genuine leather office chairs have better breathability because genuine leather has natural pores that form channels for air circulation, facilitating the dissipation of body heat and evaporation of sweat. Therefore, sitting on a genuine leather office chair for extended periods in summer is relatively less likely to cause a stuffy feeling.

Additionally, some specially treated genuine leather office chairs can further enhance comfort during summer use. For example, the infrared reflective leather used in the Weipai V9X has heat-reflective properties. It can reflect external heat back, reducing heat absorption by the seat, thereby lowering the seat surface temperature and providing a cooler sitting experience for users.
