Installation of Office Chair Wheels
To install office chair wheels, first identify the style of the old wheels, then select the appropriate tools based on the type to disassemble and install the new wheels. Be careful during the operation.

Identifying Wheel Styles
The common types of office chair wheels are snap-ring style and threaded style. The snap-ring style wheels have a circular disc at the connection point, designed to secure the wheel using the elasticity of the snap ring. The threaded style wheels have a hexagonal shape at the connection point, using the thread engagement to connect the wheel to the chair. Accurately identifying the wheel style is a crucial prerequisite for correct subsequent installation. If identified incorrectly, it may lead to using the wrong tools for disassembly and installation, thereby damaging the wheels or the chair.
Removing Old Wheels
- Snap-ring style: Use a screwdriver and gently insert it into the gap at the wheel's connection point. Utilize the lever principle and slowly pry the screwdriver to loosen the snap ring, thereby removing the old wheel. During the prying process, pay attention to applying an appropriate amount of force to avoid damaging the screwdriver or scratching the chair's surface due to excessive force.
- Threaded style: Select a wrench of the appropriate size and place it over the hexagonal part at the wheel's connection point. Then, turn the wrench counterclockwise to gradually unscrew the old wheel. Maintain stable contact between the wrench and the wheel during rotation to prevent slipping and avoid damaging the threads.
Installing New Wheels
- Snap-ring style: Align the connection part of the new wheel with the mounting hole on the chair and firmly insert the new wheel back. When you hear a 'click' sound, it indicates that the snap ring has snapped into place, and the wheel has been successfully installed.
- Threaded style: Align the threaded part of the new wheel with the threaded hole on the chair and use a wrench to turn it clockwise to tighten the new wheel. Pay attention to the amount of force applied during tightening to avoid over-tightening and damaging the threads.
Precautions
Be careful during the disassembly and installation process to avoid damaging other parts of the chair. If you are unsure about how to proceed, you can ask a friend for help or refer to detailed video tutorials to ensure a smooth installation process.
