Installation of Office Chair Screws

Admin October 16, 2026

When installing screws for an office chair, it is essential to select the appropriate screws based on the specific model and components, and follow the correct steps. The following uses the W303 computer chair as an example to explain common installation points:

1. Identify Screw Types and Uses
Different components require screws of specific specifications. For example:

  • Tray and Seat Cushion Fixing: Use 4 fine short screws (6*25MM). Ensure that the screw length matches the depth of the holes in the tray and seat cushion to avoid instability or damage to the components due to overly long or short screws.
  • Steel Plate and Backrest Fixing: Use 3 thick long screws (8*30MM). Thick screws provide stronger load-bearing capacity and are suitable for connecting load-bearing components such as the backrest.
  • Armrest Installation: Four thick long screws are required to fix the armrests on both sides of the seat cushion and backrest, ensuring a firm connection between the armrests and the main structure and preventing wobbling.
  • Headrest Fixing: Use 2 fine short screws (6*25MM). The headrest is usually lightweight, and fine short screws are sufficient for fixing.

2. Installation Steps and Precautions

  • Base and Seat Plate Connection: Place the base at the bottom of the seat plate and fix it with 4 long screws. Align the holes during installation to prevent the screws from being misaligned, which could cause the base to tilt or the seat plate to bear uneven force.
  • Backrest and Seat Connection Brackets: When using brackets to connect the backrest and seat cushion, ensure that the brackets fit snugly against the component surfaces. Tighten the screws to an appropriate torque to avoid deformation of the brackets due to over-tightening or loose connections due to under-tightening.
  • Tool Selection: It is recommended to use a wrench or an electric screwdriver to tighten the screws to ensure uniform torque. When tightening manually, tighten the screws multiple times in a cross pattern to avoid component displacement caused by unilateral force.

3. General Installation Principles

  • Screw and Hole Matching: Before installation, confirm that the diameter and length of the screws match the holes in the components to avoid thread damage caused by forced insertion.
  • Symmetrical Fixing: For components that require multiple screws for fixing (such as trays and armrests), tighten the screws in a diagonal sequence to ensure even force distribution.
  • Check Stability: After installation, shake the components to check for looseness or abnormal noises. Retighten the screws if necessary.

If the screw specifications are unclear or the component holes do not match, it is advisable to contact the manufacturer for installation instructions or professional guidance to avoid safety hazards caused by incorrect installation.
