IKEA Office Chair Buy-Back
Admin October 14, 2026
IKEA offers a buy-back service for office chairs, allowing eligible second-hand office chairs to be sold to IKEA through an online application + in-store processing procedure. Details are as follows:

I. Buy-Back Conditions Second-hand IKEA office chairs must meet all of the following requirements:
- Product Source: Must be an official IKEA product and within the scope of buy-back eligibility (check in real-time via the IKEA APP for specifics).
- Product Condition:
- Structurally intact and functionally normal, with no damage or safety hazards;
- Clean and tidy in appearance, with no obvious stains, wear, or deformation;
- Fully assembled, not disassembled or missing parts.
- Original Condition: Not modified, painted, or had parts replaced through human intervention, and consistent with IKEA's official description.
- Proof of Ownership: The user must be the legal owner of the furniture, with no debt or guarantee disputes.
- Quality Commitment: Meets IKEA's commitment standards for product performance, condition, and quality.
II. Product Categories Not Eligible for Buy-Back The following products are not eligible for buy-back:
- Furniture that has been modified or altered;
- Electrical appliances and electronic products (such as lamps and speakers);
- Fabric, cushioned, or leather products (such as mattresses and curtains);
- Non-furniture products (such as kitchenware and decorations);
- Products that have been used outdoors (including outdoor furniture).
III. Buy-Back Process
- Online Application:
- Open the IKEA APP/mini-program and enter the [Buy-Back Service] section;
- Select the office chair to be bought back and upload at least 6 photos (including front, side, overall appearance, IKEA logo, item number, original receipt, and other details);
- The system evaluates the condition and generates a preliminary quote (notified via SMS and APP push);
- Accept the quote to obtain a [Buy-Back Reservation Number].
- In-Store Processing:
- Deliver the fully assembled office chair to the designated IKEA store within 14 days;
- Present the reservation number at the [Returns and Exchanges Service Area], where staff will verify the furniture's condition and determine the final quote;
- If you agree to the final quote, receive an [IKEA Buy-Back Refund Card] on the spot (usable for in-store purchases);
- If you reject the final quote, you must take the furniture away yourself; if not handled promptly, IKEA will dispose of it according to waste management regulations.
IV. Notes
- The buy-back service is only available at IKEA stores in certain cities. It is recommended to check via the APP in advance to see if your local store supports it;
- The original receipt is not mandatory, but providing it can speed up the review process;
- The final quote may be lower than the preliminary quote due to differences in condition and must be based on the on-site verification results.
