I-shaped Office Chair Assembly

Admin October 10, 2026

The assembly of an I-shaped office chair can be carried out according to the following steps, ensuring that operations are standardized to guarantee safety and functionality:

1. Install the Chair Base and Gas Lift
Place the chair base flat on the ground, ensuring the central hole faces upwards and is free of obstructions. Insert the gas lift vertically into the central hole and press gently until it is fully embedded. Pay attention to the installation direction of the dust cover at the bottom of the gas lift (usually the opening faces downwards). If the gas lift has an adjustment button, ensure it is located on the outside for easy operation. Avoid inserting the gas lift at an angle during this step to prevent damage to the chair base or the internal structure of the gas lift.

2. Secure the Seat
Align the mounting hole at the bottom of the seat with the top of the gas lift and press down slowly until you hear a 'click' sound (indicating the latch is locked). For chairs with adjustable recline, install the recline control handle simultaneously: insert the handle into the reserved hole on the right side of the seat and tighten the fixing screw with a screwdriver. Ensure the seat is fully seated against the gas lift during operation to prevent detachment during use due to an unlocked connection.

3. Connect the Backrest and Armrests

  • Backrest Installation:
    • Pre-assembled: The backrest is already connected to the seat via hinges; simply adjust the angle to a vertical position.
    • Separate: Use screws to secure the backrest to the metal bracket at the rear of the seat. Tighten all screws with a Phillips screwdriver and check that the backrest is stable and does not wobble.
  • Armrest Installation: Align the screw holes on both sides of the seat and tighten the armrests with the provided screws. Pay attention to the symmetry of the left and right armrests to avoid discomfort due to installation misalignment.

4. Install Additional Components

  • Headrest Installation: Insert the rod of the headrest into the reserved hole at the top of the backrest and rotate to the desired height (usually adjustable within a range of 10-15cm).
  • Lumbar Support Installation: Secure it to the middle of the backrest using Velcro or latches, adjusting the position according to your body shape to provide effective support.
  • Caster Installation: Press the wheels firmly into the holes at the ends of the chair base until you hear a 'click' sound. Ensure all wheels are securely installed to prevent detachment during use.

5. Post-installation Inspection and Adjustment

  • Structural Stability: Shake the chair to test for looseness at the connections, focusing on the joints between the chair base and gas lift, and between the seat and gas lift.
  • Functional Normality: Test the smoothness of the height adjustment, recline, and rotation functions, and check the sensitivity of the recline control handle.
  • Safety Details: Check for exposed screws and ensure the wheels are firmly fixed to prevent sharp parts from scratching the skin.
  • Personalized Adjustment: Adjust the recline tension of the backrest, headrest height, and armrest width according to your personal habits to ensure comfort.

Precautions:

  • Before assembly, check the parts list to ensure nothing is missing or damaged.
  • Common tools include a Phillips screwdriver, adjustable wrench (some models may require an Allen wrench), rubber mallet, and scissors.
  • If disassembling the gas lift from the seat or the chair base from the gas lift (e.g., during a move), exercise caution to avoid damage from forced disassembly.
