Hydraulic Office Chair Rod

Admin October 10, 2026

The hydraulic office chair rod is a crucial component that enables the height adjustment of pneumatic lift chairs by facilitating the movement of the piston rod inside the cylinder.

Disassembly and Assembly Methods

  • Disassembly: First, raise the gas rod to its maximum height to create more operating space. Turn the chair upside down so that the lower part of the gas rod is suspended in the air. Use a hammer with a diameter of at least three centimeters to strike forcefully around the circumference of the gas rod, breaking the connection between the gas rod and the base. When disassembling the bottom of the gas rod, also turn it upside down and suspend it. Strike the edge of the bottom of the gas rod with the hammer as hard and fast as possible to detach it.
  • Assembly: Insert the new gas rod directly into the chair hole, and also insert the top directly into the base hole. Press it down and then lift it up to secure it. The longer you sit, the tighter it will be held in place.

Common Problems and Repair Methods

  • Chair cannot be raised or lowered: This may be due to poor internal sealing of the hydraulic rod or a malfunctioning control valve. If it is a sealing issue, turn the chair upside down, disassemble the connection between the hydraulic rod and the seat, check if the sealing rubber ring is damaged. If damaged, purchase a suitable sealing rubber ring for replacement and then reassemble. If it is a control valve malfunction, first try cleaning the valve to remove impurities. If the problem persists after cleaning, a new control valve needs to be replaced.
  • Strange noises: This may be because the hydraulic rod lacks lubrication or some components are loose. When there is a lack of lubrication, use professional hydraulic oil or lubricating oil and drip an appropriate amount onto the moving parts of the hydraulic rod. Then repeatedly raise and lower the chair to evenly distribute the lubricating oil. If components are loose, use a wrench or other tools to tighten the loose screws.

Safety Precautions

The cylinder of the hydraulic office chair rod is usually filled with high-purity nitrogen and other inert gases. If a low-quality pneumatic rod is used or the purity of the filled gas is insufficient, under conditions of frequent lifting and lowering or high temperatures, the pressure inside the pneumatic rod may suddenly increase, posing an explosion risk and having caused multiple serious injury accidents in the past. Therefore, consumers should purchase products from regular manufacturers, avoid frequent height adjustments, and conduct regular inspections and maintenance.
