Hydraulic Office Chair

Admin October 22, 2026

A hydraulic office chair, also known as a hydraulic lift chair, is a chair that uses an oil pressure pump as its core adjustment component to achieve height adjustment. It offers precise adjustment but has drawbacks such as high cost and low market share.

Working Principle and Adjustment Characteristics A hydraulic lift chair achieves height adjustment through an oil pressure pump. When the user presses the control lever, the hydraulic oil flows within the pump, pushing the piston to change the chair's height. Its adjustment method is gradual, requiring multiple operations of the control lever to achieve the desired height change. However, it offers high adjustment precision, meeting users' precise needs for sitting posture. Unlike pneumatic chairs, which rely on nitrogen compression for rapid lifting and lowering, the incompressibility of hydraulic oil makes the lifting process slower and smoother, avoiding the sudden lifting or bouncing issues that may occur with pneumatic chairs.

Structure and Material Composition The seat cushion and backrest are typically wrapped in faux leather fabric and filled with sponge, providing a comfortable sitting experience. The overall frame is constructed from plywood and a metal frame, ensuring structural stability. The armrests come in a variety of materials, including PU, faux leather, or metal, to meet different usage scenarios. The base is designed in shapes such as star-shaped, round, or square, and is mostly made of chrome-plated or stainless steel, offering both aesthetics and durability.

Main Disadvantages

  1. Difficult Oil Stain Handling: If the oil pressure rod malfunctions and causes hydraulic oil leakage, the oil droplets can penetrate the fabric or floor, making thorough cleaning difficult and potentially leaving permanent stains.
  2. High Cost: The hydraulic structure is complex, requiring precision machining and high-quality materials, resulting in a significantly higher price compared to ordinary office chairs, limiting its market penetration.
  3. Low Market Share: Domestic consumers tend to prefer affordable and responsive pneumatic chairs. Due to its high cost, complex structure, and slower height adjustment, the hydraulic lift chair has a smaller market share.
  4. Insufficient Adjustment Sensitivity: Compared to the "one-touch lifting" of pneumatic chairs, hydraulic chairs require multiple operations of the control lever, resulting in lower adjustment efficiency and making them unsuitable for users who need frequent height adjustments.
