Hydraulic Buffer Office Chair

Admin October 16, 2026

A hydraulic buffer office chair, also known as an oil-pressure chair, is a type of chair that utilizes hydraulic transmission principles to achieve height adjustment. It features smooth lifting and lowering, as well as position locking, but carries risks of oil leakage and higher costs.

Working Principle
The hydraulic buffer office chair achieves height adjustment through an oil pump and oil rod valve. Its core component is the hydraulic transmission system, where users gradually complete lifting and lowering by repeatedly operating the control lever (such as by foot pedal or hand crank). When the lifting valve switch is pressed and pressure is applied, hydraulic oil pushes the lifting shaft to descend smoothly and uniformly. When the switch is released or pressure is stopped, the lifting shaft locks at its current position due to pressure balance in the hydraulic system. If there is no operation or external force applied, the lifting shaft will quickly return to its highest point due to the spring or hydraulic rebound mechanism.

Performance Characteristics

  1. Smooth Lifting and Lowering: The hydraulic system controls the flow of oil through the oil rod valve, ensuring a shock-free and noise-free lifting and lowering process, suitable for office scenarios requiring frequent posture adjustments.
  2. Position Locking Function: When the control lever is released midway, the lifting shaft maintains its current height, preventing height changes due to accidental contact and enhancing usage safety.
  3. Operational Flexibility: Supports stepless linear adjustment, allowing users to precisely adjust the seat height according to their needs, accommodating different heights or desk heights.

Structural Composition

  1. Seat Cushion and Backrest: The surface is typically made of leather-like materials (such as faux leather or genuine leather), filled with high-density foam for comfortable support. The frame is constructed from multi-layer boards or metal frames to ensure structural stability.
  2. Armrests: Made of diverse materials, including PU soft rubber, faux leather foam board structures, or metal, with a design style consistent with the chair body. Some models support height or angle adjustment.
  3. Base: Available in various shapes such as star-shaped, circular, or square, made of chrome-plated or stainless steel for both load-bearing capacity and aesthetics. Some high-end models are equipped with wheels for easy mobility.

Disadvantages and Limitations

  1. Risk of Oil Leakage: If the seal of the oil rod fails, hydraulic oil may leak and contaminate the floor or clothing, and oil stains can be difficult to clean thoroughly.
  2. Higher Cost: The complexity of the hydraulic system requires precision machining and high-quality materials, resulting in a significantly higher overall price compared to ordinary office chairs.
  3. Maintenance Requirements: After prolonged use, hydraulic components may wear out and require regular inspection or replacement, increasing maintenance costs.
