Huangtian Office Chair Refurbishment

Admin October 12, 2026

The refurbishment of Huangtian office chairs can be carried out according to the following steps:

I. Assessment and Repair
Before refurbishment, conduct a comprehensive inspection of the chair's structure, focusing on the stability of connecting parts and supporting components. If loose screws, broken metal parts, or cracked wooden structures are found, prioritize repairs: Use a screwdriver to tighten loose parts, weld or replace broken metal parts, and fill and clamp cracked wooden areas with woodworking glue to ensure structural safety before proceeding with subsequent operations.

II. Cleaning
Choose cleaning methods based on the material:

  • Surface cleaning: Wipe away dust with a slightly damp soft cloth. For stubborn stains, gently wipe with a neutral cleaning agent (such as diluted dishwashing detergent). Avoid using strong acid or alkali cleaners that may damage the material.
  • Gap cleaning: Use a fine brush or vacuum cleaner to remove dust from chair seams, casters, and other areas to prevent dust from overflowing after refurbishment.
  • Fabric/leather cleaning: For detachable fabric chair surfaces, remove them according to the markings and use a specialized cleaner for local stain removal. Leather chair surfaces should be cleaned and moisturized with a leather conditioner to prevent cracking after refurbishment.

III. Refurbishment Method Selection

  1. Re-painting (wooden chairs)

    • Sanding: First, use 80-120 grit sandpaper to remove old paint and deep scratches, then use 240-400 grit sandpaper to sand along the grain until the surface is smooth. Pay special attention to detailed handling of corners and edges.
    • Painting: Apply 1-2 coats of water-based wood primer (such as polyurethane primer) to enhance adhesion. After drying, lightly sand with fine sandpaper. Then apply 2-3 coats of topcoat, with an interval of 4-6 hours between each coat. A small amount of matting agent can be added to the last coat to reduce glare.
  2. Replacing the chair surface material

    • Fabric replacement: When removing the old fabric, mark the positions. When cutting the new fabric, leave a 2-3 cm seam allowance. Sew the edges with a sewing machine or by hand. Install it by fixing it with a stapler or specialized chair surface glue to ensure the fabric is flat and wrinkle-free.
    • Leather replacement: Choose wear-resistant leather. After cutting, paste it with specialized leather glue. Treat the edges with edge sealer to prevent cracking. For corners, cut the leather and overlap it for pasting to fit the curve.
  3. Refurbishment using accessories

    • Armrest repair: Worn plastic armrests can be covered with silicone or PVC armrest covers. Choose a model that matches the size of the original armrests and slowly push it in from one end until it fits snugly.
    • Full-chair protection: For chairs with reduced elasticity or surface damage, use a one-piece chair cover. Choose a highly elastic knitted fabric (such as spandex blend). Start by putting it on from the backrest and gradually adjust it until the seat cushion and armrests are fully covered, ensuring that the casters and gas lift operate freely.

IV. Detail Handling and Inspection
After refurbishment, clean any residual glue or paint spots from the chair seams, apply anti-rust oil to metal parts, and wax and maintain wooden components. Finally, conduct a comprehensive inspection: Shake the chair to test its structural stability, press the seat surface to check its elasticity, and rotate the casters to confirm smoothness, ensuring there are no looseness, abnormal noises, or appearance defects.
