How to Store and Release Office Chairs
The method of storing and releasing office chairs depends on their type and design, which can be broadly categorized into regular office chairs, foldable office chairs, and office chairs with special functions. The operation steps are as follows:

Regular Office Chairs
Regular office chairs typically do not have folding capabilities, but some models support height adjustment. To adjust the height, first locate the hand control device beneath the seat, which commonly comes in the form of a lever or knob. For pneumatic lift models, adjust the seat height by repeatedly pumping the control lever. For mechanical models (such as those with a spiral spring structure), rotate the knob or lift the lever to the desired height, and then return the control device to its original position to lock it in place. These chairs do not require storage, but it is necessary to regularly check the stability of the pneumatic rod or mechanical structure to prevent deformation due to long-term weight bearing.
Foldable Office Chairs
The core design of foldable office chairs revolves around link mechanisms and rotating shafts, enabling the transition between expansion and storage through hinges and locking devices. The operation steps are as follows:
- During Expansion: First, unlock the locking device (such as by pressing a catch or rotating a knob), and then sequentially expand the backrest, seat, and armrests to their fixed positions. Ensure that all components are fully engaged in the slots or locking holes to prevent looseness during use.
- During Storage: Perform the operations in reverse. First, fold the backrest and seat (some models may require flattening the backrest first), then retract the armrests to be parallel with the seat. Finally, use the link mechanism to collapse the entire chair into a compact form. After storage, it is recommended to tuck the chair into a corner, under the bed, or behind a door to save space. In terms of materials, these chairs often feature steel or aluminum alloy frames paired with high-density foam or elastic mesh fabric, ensuring both structural strength and lightweight portability. Note: Before folding, ensure that there is no heavy object on the chair to avoid damaging the mechanical structure. The storage environment should be dry and ventilated to prevent rusting of metal components. If the chair has not been used for a long time, regularly check the flexibility of the folding mechanism and locking device to prevent jamming.
Office Chairs with Special Functions
Some office chairs have features such as backrest recline or forward-and-backward rocking. The storage and release operations depend on the specific design:
- Backrest Recline Adjustment: Pull the handle on the right side or beneath the seat while leaning back with your back to reach the desired angle. Release the handle to fix it in place. To flatten the backrest (such as for a nap mode), it is usually achieved by pulling a lever under the right armrest.
- Forward-and-Backward Rocking Adjustment: Rotate the black cylinder (or knob on some models) in front of the chair's pneumatic rod to adjust the rocking amplitude or lock the current state. These chairs do not require complete folding, but it is necessary to regularly clean the pneumatic rod and rocking mechanism to prevent dust from affecting sensitivity.
