How to Rest at Noon on Office Chairs

Admin October 12, 2026

If your office chair cannot be adjusted in angle, you can try the following ways to rest at noon:

  1. Use ground mats
Choose items such as long bubble columns, cardboard boxes, egg-crate mats, picnic mats, or yoga mats to lay on the ground near your workstation as temporary nap mats. These mats should have a certain thickness (recommended 5-10 cm) to cushion the hardness of the ground and prevent discomfort from direct contact with hard surfaces. Egg-crate mats can disperse pressure due to their concave-convex surface structure, while yoga mats offer the advantages of softness and slip resistance. You can choose based on personal preference.

  2. Modify your workstation for a semi-reclined position
Place two office chairs side by side, pull one chair back to the maximum distance, and adjust the backrest to form an approximately 120-degree angle with the other chair, simulating a semi-reclined posture. Pay attention to the stability of the backrest at this time to avoid tipping over due to a shift in the center of gravity. If the chair has armrests, you can rest your arms on them to reduce shoulder pressure; if there are no armrests, you can prepare a pillow to support your elbows.

If your office chair has a large recline angle (such as 160 degrees) and a 5-level locking function, you can follow these steps to achieve a full-body relaxed nap:

  1. Adjust the recline angle
Adjust the backrest to the maximum recline angle (such as 160 degrees) and use the 5-level locking function to fix the position, ensuring that your body is in a nearly lying-down state to reduce spinal pressure.

  2. Use a leg rest
Pull out the hidden leg rest or attach an adjustable leg rest, fully extend your legs and place them on it, keeping your knees naturally bent (about 120 degrees) to avoid poor blood circulation due to your legs hanging in the air.

  3. Optimize the position of the armrests
Rotate the armrests to be parallel to your body and place your forearms naturally on them to keep your shoulders relaxed. If the height of the armrests is adjustable, ensure that your elbows are level with the desktop or armrests to avoid excessive stretching of the muscles.

  4. Supplement with auxiliary tools
You can wear a U-shaped pillow to support your neck and prevent excessive backward tilting of your head; use an eye mask to block out light and improve sleep quality; if the environment is noisy, you can wear earplugs to reduce interference.

Precautions: Regardless of the method you choose, ensure that there is sufficient space around your workstation to avoid colliding with others or objects due to excessive movement; it is recommended to keep your nap time between 20-30 minutes to avoid feeling drowsy after waking up from deep sleep; if you need to nap regularly, consider equipping yourself with a professional nap chair or folding bed to enhance comfort and safety.
