How to Package Office Chairs
Admin October 11, 2026
The following steps can be referred to for packaging office chairs. Choose an appropriate plan based on whether disassembly is required, moving conditions, and protection needs:

I. Determine Whether to Disassemble
- Packaging without Disassembly: If there is sufficient space in the moving passage and transportation vehicle, and the chair has a simple structure or is complex to disassemble (such as an integrated office chair), you can directly wrap the entire chair with multiple layers of bubble wrap and stretch wrap. The bubble wrap should cover all parts including the seat, backrest, and legs. The outer layer should be wrapped horizontally and vertically with stretch wrap to ensure a tight package and cushion the transportation pressure.
- Packaging after Disassembly: If the moving space is limited, the chair is of high value, or it needs to be transported over a long distance, it is recommended to package it after disassembly. The disassembly sequence should follow the principle of 'from the outside in, from the top down, and in reverse order of assembly' (for example, remove the armrests first, then the backrest, and finally the legs) to avoid damaging precision parts.
II. Prepare Materials and Tools
- Core Protective Materials:
- Bubble wrap: Wrap all parts for shock absorption and cushioning;
- Stretch wrap/stretch film: Secure the wrapping layers, prevent dust and dirt;
- Packing paper/old newspapers: Wrap painted or fabric parts to prevent scratches;
- Cardboard boxes: It is recommended to use boxes with dimensions of 60x40x50cm or 50x40x40cm. Line the inside with dust bags or disposable tablecloths for dust and water resistance.
- Fixing and Storage Tools:
- Wide tape: Seal the cardboard boxes and fix the edges of the packaging;
- Parts bags/sealed plastic bags: Store small parts such as screws and washers to prevent loss;
- Markers and label paper: Mark the parts or parts bags for easy assembly.
- Auxiliary Tools (if disassembly is required): A rubber mallet is used to disassemble tight parts such as gas rods to avoid damaging the paint with a metal hammer.
III. Specific Packaging Operations
- Disassemblable Chairs: After disassembly, wrap each part separately with stretch wrap to prevent scratches during moving. For non-disassemblable chairs, first wrap them tightly with stretch wrap, and then wrap them horizontally and vertically with bubble wrap.
- Utilize Original Packaging: If the original packaging is intact, place the packaged chair directly inside. If it is lost, cut cardboard to make an outer packaging and protect the edges with hard corner protectors. For valuable chairs, a custom-made wooden frame box can be used, filled with foam or clothes inside to reduce gaps.
- Stacked Packaging: Stack two chairs face-to-face, align the backrests and notches, and wrap them horizontally and vertically with high-adhesive tape to reduce collision and friction.
IV. Attach Labels
Attach 'Fragile' or 'Valuable' labels on the outside of the packaging to remind movers to handle them with care and avoid damage.
