How to Operate an Office Chair

Admin October 13, 2026

The operation of an office chair requires step-by-step adjustments based on its functional type, focusing on height, angle, component, and smart feature settings, while adhering to principles of healthy usage.

I. Height Adjustment

  1. Operation Method:
    • Locate the hand control device (such as a lever or knob) beneath or on the side of the seat. For a pneumatic lift chair, pull up the control lever and repeatedly pump the lever to reach the desired height; for a mechanical chair, gradually adjust by rotating the knob.
    • After adjustment, check for stability to ensure there is no jamming or abnormal noise from the pneumatic rod or mechanical structure.
  2. Standard Posture:
    • Keep your feet flat on the ground, with your thighs and calves forming a 95-100 degree angle. If the chair is too high, use a footrest; if it is too low, it will increase pressure on the knee joints, requiring readjustment of the height.
    • When operating a computer, your eyes should be level with the center of the monitor; when working at a desk, keep your elbows at the same height as the desk to avoid shrugging or having your arms hang in the air.

II. Angle and Posture Adjustment

  1. Seating Angle:
    • Lean back slightly to an angle of 100-110 degrees, ensuring your back (especially the lower back) is firmly against the chair back to provide lumbar support at the natural curve of the spine (around the third to fourth lumbar vertebrae).
    • Avoid leaning back excessively (e.g., beyond 120 degrees), as this may increase pressure on the neck.
  2. Armrest Height:
    • Adjust the armrests so that when your elbows hang naturally, your forearms can rest comfortably on them, with your upper arms and forearms forming an angle close to 100 degrees.
    • If the armrests are too high, it will cause shoulder tension; if they are too low, it may lead to elbow compression.

III. Component Adjustment

  1. Headrest:
    • For integrated headrests like those on the Sihoo S300, adjust the position by sliding it forward or backward to match the neck support needs of users of different heights.
  2. Lumbar Support:
    • For manually adjustable types, adjust the protrusion of the lumbar support using the knob or buckle on the side of the chair back; for smart types (such as the Sihoo H300), precisely control the position through the accompanying app or buttons on the chair back.
  3. Armrests:
    • Some high-end models support multi-directional adjustments (up/down, forward/backward, left/right), which can be operated using a control lever or app to ensure the armrests align with the edge of the desk.

IV. Smart Features (for some models)

  1. Startup and Connection:
    • For models like the Sihoo H300, insert the battery and press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to start up, then connect to the smart app via Bluetooth.
  2. Feature Settings:
    • Select the 'Body Fit' mode in the app, and the system will automatically adjust the chair back tilt, lumbar support position, etc.; when switching between scene modes such as 'Office' and 'Rest', the chair will adjust to preset angles in tandem.

V. Healthy Usage Recommendations

  1. Regular Movement: Perform hip joint stretches, lower back relaxation exercises, etc., every 30 minutes, or briefly stand up to work to relieve fatigue from prolonged sitting.
  2. Posture Changes: Avoid maintaining the same posture for extended periods; briefly lean forward (e.g., when writing at a desk) or twist your body sideways (by no more than 15 degrees) to promote blood circulation.
