How to Lower Office Chairs

Admin October 14, 2026

The method for lowering office chairs varies depending on their type. Here are the specific steps:

For pneumatic lift swivel chairs, the lowering operation is relatively simple. One common method is for the user to sit on the chair and then lift the control lever upwards, using their own body weight to lower the chair. Another method is to locate the handle on the chair's support rod. The user can either sit on the chair or press down firmly on it while lifting the handle upwards, which will lower the chair's height. If it is a gas-filled pneumatic lift swivel chair, locate the knob on the gas cylinder and rotate it clockwise to gradually lower the chair. During operation, be mindful of applying moderate force to avoid damaging the chair or injuring yourself due to excessive force. Also, ensure the chair is stable to prevent tilting or sliding during the lowering process.

For spiral lift swivel chairs, the lowering operation is primarily controlled by the direction of rotation of the knob. The user simply needs to rotate the knob clockwise to lower the chair and counterclockwise to raise it. When performing this operation, ensure the knob rotates smoothly. If the knob is stuck or difficult to turn, stop the operation and check the cause, which may be due to debris inside the knob or damaged components. When rotating the knob, apply force slowly and evenly to avoid uneven force causing the chair's height adjustment to be unsmooth or resulting in sudden lowering. Additionally, observe the changes in the chair during the height adjustment process to ensure it is lowered to the appropriate height to meet the user's needs.

Regardless of the type of office chair, before performing any lowering operation, ensure the surrounding environment is safe and free of obstacles to prevent collisions during the chair's descent. Also, follow the correct operating procedures to avoid damaging the chair or causing injury to the user due to improper operation.
