How to Lower an Office Chair
The method for lowering an office chair mainly depends on the type of adjustment mechanism it has. Here are some common methods:

1. Hand-Controlled Adjustment (for Pneumatic Lift Chairs) Pneumatic lift chairs are usually equipped with lever or knob-type control devices located on the side or bottom of the seat. To adjust, first sit on the chair or press down on the seat with your hand to provide stable support. Then, lift the control device (some models require pulling the lever upward). At this point, the seat will descend due to the release of air pressure. If further lowering is needed, repeatedly push the lever up and down to achieve precise adjustment through the continuous release of air pressure. Note that some models are designed to lower the seat by pressing the lever downward. Before operating, it is recommended to observe the lever markings or try pressing lightly to confirm the direction.
2. Wave Device Adjustment (for Mechanical Lift Chairs) The adjustment device of a mechanical office chair is usually located beneath the seat, in the form of a round or square button. To adjust, maintain a sitting position and press the wave device with your foot or hand. The seat will gradually descend as the internal mechanical structure releases. This type of chair has a relatively small adjustment range, suitable for fine-tuning the height, and requires continuous pressing of the device until the desired height is reached. If the device responds slowly, check if the internal parts are worn due to long-term use and lubricate or replace them in a timely manner.
3. Knob Adjustment (for Inflatable Office Chairs) Inflatable office chairs control the height through the air pressure inside the gas rod. The adjustment knob is generally located at the top or side of the gas rod. To adjust, turn the knob clockwise, and the gas inside the gas rod will gradually release, causing the seat to descend. If you need to raise it, turn the knob counterclockwise to inflate. When adjusting this type of chair, maintain stability and avoid rapid rotation, which can lead to uneven gas release. If the knob is loose or cannot fix the height, it may be due to a decrease in the sealing of the gas rod, and you should contact after-sales service for repair.
Precautions:
- Before adjusting, ensure that the chair is on a level surface to avoid adjustment failure or damage to the mechanical structure due to tilting.
- When adjusting a pneumatic chair, avoid pressing the lever with excessive force to prevent sudden changes in the internal pressure of the gas rod, which can pose safety risks.
- If the chair has not been used for a long time or the adjustment device is stuck, you can first gently shake the seat or spray a small amount of lubricant (such as WD-40) before operating.
- Inflatable chairs should be regularly checked for the sealing of the gas rod. If air leakage or an inability to fix the height is detected, stop using it immediately and replace the gas rod.
