How to Install an Office Chair

Admin October 14, 2026

The installation steps for an office chair are as follows:

1. Install the Casters and Gas Lift Install each caster onto the chair base one by one, ensuring that each wheel fits snugly into the base interface. After assembling the chair base, vertically insert the gas lift into the center hole of the base, ensuring sufficient insertion depth and no wobbling. The gas lift is the core component for adjusting the seat height and must be kept vertical to avoid subsequent usage failures.

2. Secure the Seat Plate and Seat Align the seat plate with the screw holes on the bottom of the seat and secure it using the provided screws. Pay attention to the orientation of the seat plate, which is usually marked with front and back indicators that must match the seat design. When installing, initially screw each screw in 3-4 turns, confirm that all screws are aligned, and then tighten them one by one to avoid tilting the seat plate due to unilateral force.

3. Connect the Backrest and Seat Align the bottom sides of the backrest with the armrest installation holes on both sides of the seat, gently insert them, and secure the bottom of the backrest with two screws from the bottom of the armrest brackets. Then, align the back of the backrest with the installation holes on the seat bracket and tighten the screws using two wrenches to ensure a firm and wobble-free connection between the backrest and seat. This step requires two people to collaborate to avoid misalignment due to uneven force.

4. Assemble the Base and Gas Lift Lift the assembled seat and backrest unit as a whole and vertically insert the base into the top of the gas lift, ensuring it is fully inserted and you hear a 'click' sound or feel a slight drop, indicating successful installation. Do not insert it at an angle, as this may damage the internal structure of the gas lift.

5. Install the Armrests and Headrest Press the button below the armrest surface and insert the left and right armrests into the holes on the armrest brackets respectively. A 'click' sound indicates successful locking. When installing the headrest, place it in the middle of the top of the backrest, press the headrest installation area to fit it against the backrest, and thread a screw through the headrest fixing clip and tighten it, also using the 'pre-tighten and then reinforce one by one' method to prevent screw misalignment.

Precautions:

  • Before installation, check that all components are complete to avoid rework due to missing parts during the process.
  • Use the corresponding tools when tightening screws to avoid slipping or damaging the threads due to excessive force.
  • If the clip cannot be locked, slightly adjust the angle of the component and try again. Do not press it forcibly.
