How to Inspect Office Chairs

Admin October 22, 2026

Inspecting office chairs requires a comprehensive assessment from aspects such as sales packaging, labeling, materials, appearance, assembly, functionality, sensory evaluation, and long-term usage experience.

Sales Packaging: Check for sharp edges or corners and deformation in the packaging. Confirm that the packaging information matches the product. Look for signs of tearing, damage, or moisture on the packaging. Inspect for missing or damaged accessories, loose packaging, and uniform packaging methods.

Labels and Markings: Check for missing, incorrect, unclear, damaged, or misaligned instructions, tags, or stickers.

Materials:

  • Fabric: Check for color differences, fading, abnormal feel, holes, pilling, or wrinkles.
  • Leather: Look for mildew spots, color differences, cracks, peeling, or wrinkles.
  • Metal: Inspect metal components for burrs, rough edges, wear marks, deformation, dents, or protrusions.

Appearance: Check for sharp fragments or burrs and severe cracks in structural components. Ensure that no metal that should not be exposed is visible. Check for excessive diagonal weave or bowing in the fabric, and look for damage, loose stitching, significant color differences, dents, or gaps. Confirm that the size, color, shape, and material match the approved sample. Check for dirt or rust, ensure that the spray coating is not under-applied or over-applied, verify that the rivets or welds on hardware are correct, and look for tears in the leather or fabric and loose or detached components.

Assembly: Check that the parts match and that there are no size errors or incorrect pre-drilled hole positions. Ensure that non-functional components are not missing, loose, or defective, and check for misalignment in the gaps between hardware pieces.

Functionality: Check if the seat tilt function can be adjusted and if the gap between the chair legs and the ground exceeds 5 millimeters when the seat is pressed down.

Sensory Evaluation: Observe the leather texture, feel the softness, fineness, and tightness of genuine leather, and assess the breathability when sitting. Understand the characteristics of ergonomic chairs and ordinary swivel chairs. Choose a dynamic lumbar support. Ensure that the armrests can be adjusted up and down at least, and that the headrest can rotate is better. Opt for breathable mesh fabric and high-elastic foam that does not collapse easily. Choose a gas lift with an anti-explosion steel plate.

Long-term Usage Experience: Check the specifications and testing information of the gas lift, chassis, and chair legs. Pay attention to the elasticity, tension, and edge treatment of the mesh fabric, and the density and support of the foam seat cushion. Check if the adjustment of the armrests, reclining mechanism, and lifting structure is smooth and if the connections are secure. Understand the warranty period, the range of wearable parts, and the repair methods. Pay attention to the complexity of installation and the completeness of accessories.
