How to Fix an Office Chair
The fixation of an office chair mainly falls into two categories: assembly fixation and height fixation, and the corresponding method should be selected according to the specific component or issue.

I. Component Fixation During Assembly
Fixing the Chair Wheels to the Five-Star Base
Insert each chair wheel into the assembly holes at the bottom of the five-star base, ensuring that each wheel is fully embedded in the hole to prevent looseness. This step is fundamental to the mobility function of the office chair, and it is necessary to check whether the wheels rotate flexibly without jamming.Fixing the Gas Lift to the Five-Star Base
Turn over the five-star base and vertically place the thicker end of the gas lift against the center hole of the five-star base. The gas lift is the core component that supports the seat's up-and-down movement, and it is necessary to confirm that it is tightly connected to the five-star base without any tilting or wobbling.Fixing the Seat Base to the Seat Cushion
Place the seat base on the bottom of the seat cushion, paying attention to the direction of the seat base (usually marked). After aligning it with the four screw holes, first screw in four B screws about 3-4 turns each one by one, and then tighten them sequentially. This step requires avoiding cross-tightening of the screws to prevent deformation of the seat base.Fixing the Seat Cushion to the Gas Lift
Align the hole at the bottom of the seat cushion with the top of the gas lift and insert it to ensure it is fully in place. For some seats, you may need to lightly press the seat cushion to trigger the snap-fit fixation. Check whether there is no relative displacement between the seat cushion and the gas lift.Fixing the Backrest to the Seat Cushion
- Insert the bottom sides of the backrest into the armrest mounting positions on both sides of the seat cushion, and use two C screws to fix the bottom of the backrest from the bottom of the armrest brackets.
- Align the mounting holes at the back of the backrest with those on the seat cushion bracket, and use two wrenches to lock the D screws in place (i.e., one wrench holds the nut, and the other turns the screw). This step requires ensuring that the backrest is perpendicular to the seat cushion without any tilting.
Fixing the Armrests
Press the button below the armrest surface, and insert the left and right armrests into the holes of the armrest brackets respectively. A "click" sound indicates that the snap-fit is in place. Check whether the armrests are level and free of looseness.Fixing the Headrest
Align the headrest with the middle position at the top of the backrest, press it to make it fit the backrest, and use two E screws to screw them through the headrest fixing clips (first screw them in about 3-4 turns each one by one, and then fully tighten them). The height of the headrest should be adjusted to a comfortable position according to the user's needs.
II. Fixing the Height Sinking Issue
If the gas lift fails and causes the seat to sink, the height can be temporarily fixed by the following methods:
Using a Hose Clamp
Adjust the chair to a suitable height, wrap a hose clamp (such as a metal hose clamp) around the exposed cylindrical part of the gas lift, rotate the screw to tighten the clamp ring, and test whether the chair stops sinking. Ensure that the clamp ring is tight but does not excessively squeeze the surface of the gas lift.Using a PVC Pipe
Measure the diameter of the gas lift and the length of the section where the height needs to be fixed. Purchase a PVC pipe with an inner diameter slightly larger than that of the gas lift, saw a slit lengthwise along it, and then slip it over the gas lift to fix the height through the frictional force of the pipe. For this method, choose a PVC pipe with moderate hardness to avoid failure due to excessive softness.
Notes: During assembly, use the matching screws and tools to avoid mixing them up, which may lead to an unstable structure; the height-fixing methods are temporary solutions. If the gas lift is severely damaged, it is recommended to replace it with a new one to ensure safety.
